UK Anime Christmas Sales for 2024 [Anime Ltd's 12 Days of Xmas + More]

It’s been a bit surreal this year to see Anime UK News so full of foreigners bemoaning the cost of importing from the UK. ‘Member when it was us and the £18 VAT limit and the Parcelforce fee, when half the stuff didn’t even get released here and we had to import from the US? When we looked across the channel to France and Italy with envy at the titles they got, but with no English? I ‘member.

We were all in the same boat with that until the customs changes and Brexit kicked in, Ireland is more susceptible to these charges than most as the market is too small for online retailers to bother setting up here and we're pretty much 100% reliant on UK storefronts for all entertainment products.

Maybe someone needs to set up a stackry-a-like in Northern Ireland, and then just drive everything over the open border in a van and post it on from within Ireland.

Nobody steal that idea.

Irelands main issue is licenses are sold as U.K. and Ireland and distributors are straight up ignoring us despite taking the license and sometimes simply not giving ireland customer any access to the product like with witch from Mercury.

Atleast Anime Limited still give us free shipping over £50 so it helps somewhat but IOSS would be extremely helpful and remove all the admin fees that make the sale a pain

There were a few services doing this, ParcelMotel and DPD Parcel Wizard, unfortunately they had to stop due to the customs changes with Brexit.

Fyi they wouldn't even need to drive over the border to reship them as Northern Ireland is in the EU and the UK wrt customs. If caught though you will be liable for smuggling.

An Post themselves have a reshipping service, AddressPal, this has a pretty reasonable fee but comes with the issue of paying both UK 20% VAT and then paying Irish 23% VAT on top of that.

If you're near the border there is a company called Ooh Pod that will hold your parcel in Jonesboro, a town that is both in Louth and in Armagh straddling the border.

I'm just imagining now that you get pulled over and border patrols think they've caught a huge drug bust.
Then realise it's just anime from the UK.

A bit late and all but I've finally got around to ordering some stuff from the sale, not too much interested me this year but at least my wallet might make it through Christmas.

I don't like that I have to check the flash deals while I'm at the office tomorrow again. Also I'm still waiting for the early bird redux, which is what I was most interested in

Still waiting on my Day One order to ship. Meanwhile, my Day Seven order shipped on Day Nine and arrived today.

I’m expecting I’ll see the Day One order sometime next year, just like the abysmal 2018 AL sale.

About the MVM mystery bundles,

before I order, is this bundle with Amagami SS season 2?

I haven't seen any one else other than me post the MVM bundles, and unfortunatly I order all of them and they just came together in one box, so unfortunatly I have no idea if Amagami SS Plus/ season 2 is in box one or two (you would like to think they would put season 2 in box 2 but its a mystery box so you never know).

I got a dispatch notification from my CE + BOGOF order made last Thursday. That's an improvement from the dreaded 2020 sale, from which my sole purchase dispatched on 18th January 2021. It put me off ordering anything at all for the next few Christmas sales. Guessing COVID didn't help.

Just waiting on Nadia now.

If my order doesn't dispatch until next year and they don't reply to my email to let me know this I will be very annoyed and likely not shop with them again unless absolutely necessary. Just a quick courtesy email to let me know what is going on would be greatly appreciated, they haven't replied to the one I sent over a week. I do understand that they are extremely busy but just some sort of update or assurances to the customers would be a good thing to do.

We gotta member the time of year it is it’s likely they are also swamped with emails and prob won’t answer until after the sale

The warehouse handling distribution has a lot of websites not just AL to cater for, all orders will be dispatched will just take time

Not sure if we have a thread for ongoing sales overseas (apologies for posting this here if we do), but worth noting for those who like importing from the US that Crunchyroll's fancy Code Geass Collector's Edition is currently on sale for $200 down from $550.
