UK Anime Blu-ray & DVD Bargains

I think I got my Shinkai Boxset from HMV at the time ADV closed down - I'd ordered it in their fire sale but got the singles instead. Thus, I was for a time the owner of three copies of Voices.

Well, just for the fun, i've seen this thread regarding AOL DOTW for about one year and something and i've reached the conclusion that the deals rotate like a proper sequence almost all the time, so i say today i might have the chance to see gunparade march, moribito or champloo (not sure about champloo cause i dont know the deal that went for the week of 26th january). I have info ofor more than one year and im planning to do the rest of 2011 just to make sure about the system lol

eheh nice. So probably, next week we might get Moribito (which i really want), Solti Rey or Requiem for the Darkness. There should be one or two more in this list if i use 2011 data too but lets see.

By the way, maybe im not away but has been ages since we saw a big anime sale in the uk like happens for example sometimes in amazon.com or more often that anywhere else, in right stuff.

I think more crazy sales would really help the uk anime market for sure.

Moribito for £9.99 at AoL. Very worth it../quote]

My predictions were correct again. :D

I've made my order since im wanting this for a long time but never got around to buy it.

So for next deal of the week, I say it can be between Requiem for darkness, Solty Rei or Samurai Deeper Kyo.

I suppose you mean Ah my Goddess. If so, last time wast October so it might take a few more months to come out again but only if they keep the same system. Could be way before that 4 or 5 months but if they keep it the way it is, might take a while.

Anyway, amazon is really pushing it more than ever regarding anime prices. The latest victim was the FMA Brotherhood OVA which were around £14/16 and I just received an email updating the prices from stuff i want and i checked that amazon did it again. Despite this being quite a recent release and a high price can be fair, amazon must be thinking they are the only place to buy anime from and this started to happen after HMV events.

The Yen however looks to be weakening even faster than the Pound...

Being terrible at economics, would that make it cheaper to import from Japan or more expensive?

It's hard to say as it's been all over the place lately. The yen is definitely moving in our favour, which will make it cheaper for us to import if this wobble by the Pound recovers swiftly. If it stays uncertain for a while, we'll continue to suffer the current unfavourable exchange rate.

I'm reasonably happy as I made a large currency exchange just before the Pound started failing :s I hope it recovers again before I spend all my yen...

Just ordered Canaan and decided to come here to advise people but im glad you already did.

Is tales of vesperia worth it?

I liked ToV even though I don't play the Tales games. However, I know that a lot of its fans are females interested in the male leads, and I can't completely promise that this didn't affect my enjoyment too, so...^^;

Anyway, it's pretty and stands alone, and that's a good price for the BD. Sarah wrote a balanced review of it on this site if you want to get a good idea of what to expect.
