UK Anime Blu-ray & DVD Bargains

It seems reporting lower prices to Amazon works :p Persona 4 Volume 1 is now £17.99 at Amazon and Madoka Magica on Bluray is now £26, if you want an alternative to Play.com or Sainsbury's/United Publications respectively.

Hmm, now thats interesting. I've noticed UP1 tend to shave a little off the price you might pay elsewhere I assume to allow for the fact you must pay postage. If we can report to Amazon that they have a lower price they'll drop theirs and we can do super saver postage.

Freudian slip?

No, I just purposely mangle (no offense Manga), some anime titles just to make them more interesting in my head. I've always called it Burt's Angel (on occasion Burt's Angle), while Berserk gets called Bazoil for some reason, and I don't know why, but I always call Desert Punk, Desert P. Dunkle.

Anyway, one name that I can't mangle is this week's bargain of the week.

Right Stuf have started their Countdown to the Holidays Sale. Sale is on until November 26th with different stuff available on 15th and again the 21st, some stuff will be limited so keep an eye on counters and such and buy it quick. Couple decent things in the first one, think I'll pick up Maid Sama ($10.99 each set) and Peach Girl ($14.99) just now rather than the end of the year then.

Second part of the Right Stuf countdown sale is on.

And it contains practically everything I already bought at full price this year :( Damn you rightstuf!

I hate it when that happens.

Some good stuff in part 2 too, but I think I'm going to hold off. I was initially tempted to get the Aria bundle, both Efs, Excel Saga, Kite (with t-shirt) and Blame (with t-shirt). But I don't know if I'd really watch all of Aria, while I liked Ef: A Tale of Memories I'm not that desperate to see it again, not sure I'd find Excel Saga particularly funny and whilst I'd like Kite and Blame I can't justify the shipping cost for 2 things that don't even run an hour and a half between them.

And Durarara! is still too pricey.

I think the Efs are well worth that price if you like that sort of thing. I'm gutted I paid almost twice as much. I feel similarly about Aria, that's the one I'm thinking about going for.

They should definitely have gone for a better price on the Durarara considering you can get the limited ed bluray set for not a huge amount more.

Wish I could afford to pick up Aria right now. F*ckin' joblessness. I will also say that $17.99 for the Moribito PREMIUM JEWEL CASE EDITIONS, WITH ARTBOX is insane.

Anyone who doesn't own Moribito should snap that up immediately (as an owner of the BD, I can tell you it's not all that impressive).

I already own the MVM release of Moribito...

I still had to double dip on that Artbox collection. A look at the reviews indicates it has a smidge more in the way of extras (a couple of promo videos and some short interviews, 5.1 audio in English and Japanese, and art booklets) I wasn't too blown away with the NTSC-PAL conversion on that MVM/Madman release, and hope that a native NTSC disc will be a little better.

Also went for Mecha Masters: Explosive Anime Classics DVD Set (Hyb) for $9.99. Total blind buy as I know nothing about MD Geist 1 or 2, or Cybernetics Guardian. It does have Genocyber though, which means I'll finally have all of the old Manga Video Cyberpunk Collection on DVD.

I own the Moribito box and super jewel singles. Bought them in a previous TRSI sale, though for somewhat more than $18. Either they sold like absolute crap, or Media Blasters vastly over-produced.

And I recall the video quality being fine.

Super Jewel Cases are the Rolls Royce of DVD packaging. DVD sized, hard clear plastic hinged cases. Beautiful things to behold. Here's a set some poor bastard is trying to sell on Ebay. And another.

Ahh those! I have a copy of the Lock, Stock Directors cut like that. I remember them trying to flog audio DVDs in this kind of packaging for a while.
