Themed weeks

I think Project A-ko and Mai the physic girl.

simply for the pinnacle roles they had as being the first licensed manga/anime for the western market

well i was thinking about that too, i'm sure it aired well before. but it wasn't until 87' that right stuf arise to distribute volumes

either way i guess a astro boy theme could be something if people want it

Yes, I was being overly polite really, I'm also sure that it aired before, I was more wondering if you were discounting it on the grounds of it not really being promoted as "anime", as it were, at the time, or if you were just thinking licensed for retail stuff.

Either way, enough nitpicking from me, Project A-Ko would be an excellent choice at some point.

Me, listen if it was animated in Japan, i would class it as anime. The thing is it's just like Sy's and I's view on the whole western manga thing.

Anime is their terminology not some just some style used. It's the passing off time that has developed this brand of animation from Japan. The West has family guy, the east has GiTs

Hell, we could even have a Kimba the White Lion Week, while we're at it

No, no, I don't mean from the point of view of whether it is anime or not (or the secondary discussion of what the English word "anime" means compared to the Japanese word "anime"), since I don't think anyone could come up with a definition of anime that excluded Tetsuwan Atom, I mean the way it wouldn't have been promoted as a Japanese cartoon (I assume, I certainly wasn't around when Astro Boy was broadcasting), or seen as part of the "Western anime industry" as we know it today.

Out of interest- How come only a handful of people are taking part into Trigun week? (Or, fortnight, whatever-)

I've started watching in an attempt to get into the flow of things but, so far it's kinda failed pretty badly lol. I recall the FUMOFFU week going great on the other hand. People were going "Fufufufu" everywhere (Which was annoying but, heck, it promoted the show), and more people changed thier avatar for FUMOFFU/Slayers week.

I was just wondering, s'all.

To be honest, this was always going to be somewhat experimental, to see how many people take an interest in it. So far its going about as well as i originally expected it to, so i'm not worried. Erm, the reason i've not done anything for triguns two weeks is because of money, really. I'm not able to buy the series at present due to lack of money, so i've not participated. Money does get to me tomorrow however, so things could change then, and i'll be able to add my input then, but not anytime sooner really =/

The thing is though, its to be expected really that some series will get more interest than others, its common sense. Mai-Hime may get more next week, so we'll see how that goes.

I mentioned before not liking Trigun that much myself, though I'm quite surprised there's no much discussion since it was so insanely popular at the time (well, on Hellsing's level I'd say).

Perhaps with it being quite old most people have already discussed it to death in the past. I have no interest in Mai Hime but I'll be out in force for some of the later weeks!

I've seen Eureka Seven, Claymore and Gurren Lagan. I am also eargerly awaiting the Gundam release so I'll definetly start getting involved in them

I've seen Trigun, and ordering my boxset soon, which is part of the point of the weeks to get people to buy shows. =)

Oh and I've not changed my avatar mainly because I like mine too much, and if I changed it every week it would become a pain. :p

Same- i'd never change from my Chun Li avatar ;)

I'll try to get on board with the avatar thing, I think. It's probably healthier for me to move away from Hinagiku-sama for a while. ^^;

On a serious note about the discussion, I meant to watch Trigun, but the lack of other people watching/discussing it is possibly why I was slack. When does Trigun's themed period run until?

Either way, I'll definitely join in with Mai-HiME, as I absolutely love the franchise, and am always looking for an excuse to rewatch it.

"Starting 27th April: Trigun(new box set released that week)
Starting 11th May: Mai-Hime(Box set released on 18th of May)"

So it's almost over now

as far as i'm aware it ends on monday, when i think mai-hime week starts but there may be a week gap. I'm more looking forward to the proper gundam week although for me it won't be much of a change :p
