Themed weeks

Every other week sounds good.. that way people have time to get into the anime for the two weeks and still have time to talk about it with other people.

Could do it as an anime of the month. Giving everyone a month to find and watch (if they don't have it already). And with ADV doing all thier catalogue in boxsets now we could try and help Hugh out and do some of theirs.

Maybe a few things that have fallen off the radar of late. Solty Rei, Black Cat, Speed Grapher and Witch Hunter Robin. Liking the Slayers idea, must get around to getting the OAVs and movies.

Okay- i'll say for a 3rd time in the hope that Arby actually listens;

Prince of Tennis? Paranoia Agent? Ergo Proxy?

Ergo Proxy was recently released as a boxset, so that could be good!

Paranoia Agent is avaliable in a boxset pretty cheap, so that could be good!

Prince of Tennis, regardless of being shounen, does not have the credit it deserves. I'm like the only here who watches it and it's ace.

I also second Witch Hunter Robin. It is like, the best thing since Ghost in the Shell after all.

Heey I like PoT, I just don't follow it any more because Viz suck at actually releasing things they have the rights to and there are other things I want to see ;)

I think it's probably not the best one to do right now since it's barely obtainable at all in this country (manga only, really) and it's very "Jump". Ergo Proxy, WHR and especially Paranoia Agent all sound like good choices though. Ergo Proxy is topical at the moment, WHR is often overlooked and Paranoia Agent is just plain excellent.

Licensed rules out my Go Nagai idea then.

Hmm, I'd suggest Aquarian Age, Grenadier, Le Chevalier D'Eon, Witchblade and Devilman Lady (yes DML is Go Nagai but it's practically the only one licensed) since these are fantastic series that don't get enough attention.

*ba-dum-tish*

I second recommendations of Witchblade, and if we do a Go Nagi theme then we can cover Mazinger as well :p (Mazinkaiser is getting a boxset release soon)

Also WHR, Ergo and PA are good choices as well, although i would love for WHR to get a fancy new Beez boxset.

Right, On whether or not to do it as a 2 week or monthly thing, I'm thinking 2 weeks. Box sets are a good way to get full series looked into but its also worth considering the newer releases too, possibly getting a week to promote a certain release. We could something like that for, say Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann or Gundam 00. So in that respect i'm thinking go with Two weeks per instead, if we find its too little or whatever i'm sure we could extend it.

On choices. I'm gonna find a good way to choose from each choice made, i could do everyone as they are suggested, but we could try to get them to coincide with certain releases as mentioned above, so i'll figure something out on that. Just keeping in mind Monday will start Slayers as that was suggested a few weeks ago.

@Spyro: In regards to Paranoia, Ergo and WHR, they are fine however with PoT, its anime release fell through i think so its english release is restricted to manga only, so i'll leave it for the time being. As i want it to focus on Anime.

We could try themed weeks in the Manga forums as well. It is getting a little empty over there for topics.

@Dracos: That sounds like a good idea, but i think first off its best to see how well this idea works out. We could make up a manga one right now as well, but if it doesn't work out, then it'll feel a tad pointless. Think of this as a good test at the moment for whether or not it has a big affect.

Right i've taken a look over whats recommended so far and thought that the best course of action is to see what of the upcoming releases have been recommended and put them up to co-incide with one another. As such the next 6 have been decided, these are:

Starting 27th April: Trigun(new box set released that week)
Starting 11th May: Mai-Hime(Box set released on 18th of May)
Starting 25th of May: Eureka Seven(Box set 2 is released on the 25th)
Starting 8th of June: Claymore(volumes 1 and 2 released on 8th of June)
Starting 22nd of June: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann(Part 1 released 22nd June)
Starting 20th of July: Gundam 00(part one released on 20th July)

Yes there is two weeks free between gurren lagann and gundam 00, but they can be used either as two free weeks or to touch on the other series recommended. I'll note that they won't just be done in order of being recommended, but more chosen at random, they will all get a week in the end after all.

Any queries just ask.

Right, i obviously shouldn't look at play as they have it down as the 20th of July for Gundam 00 when it is set for the 15th of June, i'm gonna have to see if i can change it about to get it suited again, but if not i guess we could leave it at is.
