The Valkyria Chronicles Thread

Hard to say, specially considering that Valkyria 2 didn't have much relation(from what i'm informed) to the first. Sega have also been caught registering valkyria3.jp apparently, so you never know. I need to finish the first mind you to see if there is a possibility of a sequel.

There is the possibility. Certain matters involving an honourable opponent with a penchant for large tanks are somewhat unresolved, leaving the door open for another Valkyria Chronicles game to be set in a country other than Gallia.

VC2 not arrived yet. :/ Maybe tomorrow.

I think it's going to be prequal... The Edelweiss was Welkin's farthers tank from the first war. With the smaller lances and a F-off big sword i think it's going to be about Welkins farther...

My Valkyria Chronicles 2 has arrived! Charging up the PSP now in preparation for starting it later tonight.

I will also remind everyone here to remember your spoiler tags, as I am sure we will be talking about the story soon. :D

Edit: Played the first two levels. Really enjoying it so far.

Three characters introduced this far:

Avan, brother of Leon the goggles dude from the R&D dept of VC1. He is a scout.
Zeri, an intelligent yet arrogant bishi Darcsen guy. He is a shocktrooper. He is reluctant to work with Avan and Cosette because he feels they are below him.
Cosette, past as yet unknown to me, she is ditsy and daft, but also kind, caring, and optimistic. She is probably going to turn out to be a Valkyria too. Nothing I have seen indicates this, but I have a hunch.

The setting is a military school, and the main enemy at present is a group of Gallian rebels led by nobles who oppose Cordelia's rule simply because she is a Darcsen.

Thats the gist of it so far.

Extra edit: I like the look of the class development so far. :D Each class-up alters the character's stats, and each one listed here can be further developed into a choice of two others.

Scouts can develop into Scout Elites or Snipers, which are no longer a starting class now. Thinking maybe one of the Scout Elite branch of top tier classes may use machine guns rather than rifles. Just a hunch though and I may be wrong.

Shocktroopers can develop into Shocktrooper Elites of Gunners. Gunners carry a gatling gun and are slightly slower. Thinking that, if there is no machine gun Scout, that there will be a fast Shocktrooper with a large AP (movement points).

Lancers can develop into Lancer Elites, and Mortarers, now that the mortar using Lancers from VC1 have been split into a separate class.

Engineers can develop into Engineer Elites and Anthem Corps. Anthem Corp are musicians, and they motivate others and raise their stats through music.

New class! Armoured Techs are beefy heavily armoured soldiers armed with a Warpick close combat weapon, and a large bulletproof shield. Their purpose is to wade right in where intercepting fire is too strong for anyone else to go without being shot down. They can also disarm mines, which Engineers can no longer do. Armoured Techs can develop into Tech Elites which can place mines as well as disarm them, and Fencers, who are slower, but have awesome close combat strength can can send infantry flying with their attacks.

New vehicle type! The APC has a huge move range and can carry two infantry units. It can be fitted with a gatling turret at first. Its armour is very weak compared to the tank, however, and its HP is much lower.

Notable changes in game play:
No Sniper base class, Sniper is now a class advancement for Scouts.
Damage boost when firing from high locations, such as towers.
More options to develop individual squad members into what roles you want.
Option to change certain Potentials as and when you like.
Engineers cannot disarm mines.
Engineers carry Ragnaid, but no one else does. Therefore, certain potentials aside, Engineers are your only healers.
Your main character, Avan, can be changed to any class you wish, and can develop them in the same way. I'm using him as a scout, personally.
You can choose your own squad name and tank/vehicle name. I called my tank 'Franky'. You can earn extra titles to put before or after your squad name, and hopefully your tank name too though I've not checked yet. Here's hoping 'Super' is available as a prefix for the tank name. :D

Hmm Engineers as healers? I'm not sure i'm fond of that... I've had the game a week but i haven't started it yet... I have The last remnant to finish yet...

Engineers were the primary healers in VC1 because they carried Large Ragnaid, while everyone else carried Small Ragnaid. They are also the only class that can repair tanks and other vehicles. Engineers have a decent move range, but low defences. Trust me, it works in game. It is a balanced game.

Also, regarding VC2...

Welkin and Alicia just made a cameo. :D Alicia is running a bakery and general store in the Lanseal Academy, and Welkin came to see her. Will they have more of a part later? Who knows.

Valkyria Chronicles 3: Unrecorded Chronicles For....the PSP. Set for release in japan on the 27th of january next year.

It's based during the original Valkyria Chronicles where you play as a group called "Nameless". Here be all the details i gathered up on it:

- Set in the same period as Valkyria 1.
- Key characters all new.
- Focuses around a group called the Nameless which are... ergh. Closest English word seems to be a penal battalion, the Japanese definition according to Wikipedia is "Special group in the army composed of deserters and other military offenders. In the broader sense it doesn't have to be military offenders, and can be composed of general criminals as well. These units are often given dangerous or unpleasant missions such as the burying of corpses or the removal of land mines."

Number 01 - Imuka. One of the heroines (the one on the right). Darcsen. Something about her village being destroyed by the Valkyria.
VA: Asano Masumi

Number 07 - Kurt Irving. Used to be a genius military officer, but through certain circumstances became part of the Nameless. The guy in the middle.
VA: Nakamura Yuuichi

Numvber 13 - Riera Malseris. Valkyria, but she isn't aware of it, and after being the only survivor (of numerous battles I guess), she became known as a Reaper and ended up in the Nameless. The obvious girl on the left.
VA: Endou Aya

Scans for the game for you to look at.

If you want a chance of the next one coming to PS3 you'll have to buy 10 copies each of the third game. If you want it that bad you will do it.
