Looks like I'll have to finally get an Amazon Prime subscription because CITY is my most anticipated show for Summer 2025.
 
So Faye Valentine and Rei from Eva's Japanese VA's openly xenobic blog post was a bit disappointing, wasn't it? I mean I'm sure Japan does have its fair share of obnoxious tourists, and I'm sure the rice shortage is having a mildly traumatic effect on poor ol Hayashibara's noodle. But it's just a blatant dog wistle isn't it, when she's leaping from rude tourists to ideas of a great replacement of Japanese culture (even anime is at risk!) and comparing foreigners to an "invasive species". It's sad as well because I bet a fair few of those foreign students in Japan who she takes aim at for supposedly receiving preferential treatment over the Japanese are actually fans of her work, maybe that's what even led them there.

I determined Hollywood movies mostly sucked back in 2014, when I first cut the cord on all TV/cable/satellite service in my home. The last Hollywood movie I saw in theaters was the third Hobbit movie, and the last Hollywood movie Blu-ray I purchased was from 2017. I've been watching nothing but anime ever since, and I buy between 100-200 anime Blu-rays every year. Plus I just started collecting 18+ figures about three years ago; I've got around 40 figures now but I still have 6 figures on pre-order that I had ordered last year, before Trump became President again. I'm a huge Trump supporter but I'm really afraid these dang tariffs on Japan are going to hit me hard over here in the US, unless something changes. At least I'll have a huge backlog of anime to watch on Blu-ray if I eventually have to stop buying anime. 🙁
