Other than feature films anime don't even get 1080p other than as upscales, mainstream or not... 4k isn't going to happen any time soon.
Even then very few feature films are 1080p. Garden of Words, K-On Movie and Wolf Children all are, and I'm 99% sure K: Missing Kings is too.
JC Staff and KyoAni shows are all ~900p (With KyoAni OP/EDs being 1080p native), Ufotable is between 720-900p, with most other studios animating at 720p/sub HD. Considering it's taken this long for a number of studios to get anywhere remotely near 1080p, it's going to be a long time until you see "4k" productions.

Yeah with it being 2 part sub-only set when a dub is coming i can't see Maid-sama selling well, which will probably mean knowing MVM that we won't get the dub set at a later date due to the sub-only set under-performing.

In a similar situation, MVM said the 2 part blu-ray release of Accel World sold poorly so they won't do a complete collection which doesn't make much sense to me when as you say most people hold off getting some shows to get a complete set so they'll loose sales there, also they can just stop production of the 2 sets and put all discs into 1 case.

I rarely buy any multi part series unless it's a Aniplex series like Kill la Kill as there won't be a cheap complete set anytime soon or it's super cheap.

Sentai re-released Maid Sama with an English dub back in January, so I'm not sure why MVM would release it sub-only, unless the listing is incorrect.
It's possible that what they were supplied with was the sub only part set masters and not the dual audio complete collection masters (since the dub release was released on blu-ray, it might be that they elected for the sub only material since there isn't as far as I know an Australian distributor for the series and sentai might have only supplied dub masters on both formats, and we know that MVM doesn't go solo on blu-ray production).

I don't think the remainder will ever upgrade to BR - they just don't care. Why would the average punter pay more when to them, there's no difference. If you're a working class family struggling to make ends meet, BR means nothing to you - you just want a cheap copy of Frozen on DVD to occupy the kids.

If you go into the average HMV, the BR section is still tiny compared to the DVD section.
That's true in general, although I think the case for anime might be a little different. I know there's a "casual" market for anime that MVM and such need to appeal to but I don't think what you describe probably would fit into that. Not to say it wouldn't apply at all, people will still want cheaper releases but if you're buying anime then you probably have at least some interest in it even if it's not quite "hobby" level. I'm not sure anime on DVD is all that much cheaper either, especially if you're not shopping around much. I guess I just struggle to understand why people wouldn't upgrade at this point. I'm sure they have their reasons and that those reasons make sense to them but I find it surprising that they're not a small minority by now. Just a personal perception thing though I guess. Maybe one of the biggest factors is not really knowing what you're missing out on until you try it and not trying it because you don't know you're missing out.

Ultimately, I suspect Blu-ray will become widespread more because players and discs become about as cheap as those of standard DVDs so people just end up getting Blu-ray anyway (rather than specifically choosing it). I'd have thought we'd be near that point by now, at least. Also, it probably helps that games consoles include Blu-ray these days but I guess that may not be a huge factor.

I think it's far too late for a casual BR Market.

Extremely happy about Gangsta.
Chaos Dragon, watched the first episode and found out it's not a show for me so will have to pass there (Gave me serious Akame Ga Kill vibes, a show which I ended up despising. Will be keen to read reviews once it's finished to see if its worth another shot)

I do love their absolute insistence on always adding the period at the end of 'Gangsta.', because apparently nobody that works for Bandai Visual has even basic comprehension of English spelling and punctuation.

How do you feel about titles with unnecessary exclamation and/or question marks!?

Slightly annoying, the two exclamation marks always annoys me, as does using "x" instead of "and".

"Durarara!!x2" is a particular annoyance of mine...
