How did anyone get past the first couple of episodes of DxD to find out if they liked the rest?

I'm surprised the show's had such good reviews around this release - it's a good laugh and visually 'nice' (heh), but yeah, the plot is nothing you haven't seen in a dozen other harem / 'devil' shows.

Still, if you're into that proper moe style, the character designs are well done and the English dub is surprisingly good - seems like they rather enjoyed all the smut.

Holy crap. I never thought Itazura na Kiss would get licensed! It was a show I liked very much back in the day (even if on later reflection, I realised that Naoki is a total dick).

I am liking Discotek more and more. Itazura na Kiss and the Orguss TV series, yes please!!

I am now pinning my hopes on them as the most likely company to bring over Sei-Juishi Bismarck, in Japanese and with the episodes in the correct order and with all the on-screen depictions of death intact. It's retro and pretty niche: just the kind of title on which Discotek might take a chance.

I flew to America to watch DxD streaming mainly because of the "Welsh Dragon". Which was pretty much a no show in the first series, and I'v never watched the rest.

When will shangrai-la be getting repackaged? I am just waiting on up1 to restock it but will not be buying it unless its the artbox version.

It's a bit late now. The Limited Edition Artbox is out of print and sold out since they basically used whatever stock they had left from it's original release.

However, there's about 10 copies left on Rightstuf but with the original price tag.

It's gone quiet on the Patema Inverted OST, I hope that's a sign they have paused for a moment to see if Amazon pre-orders puts it into the doable zone.

Looks like the £16 tier backers are getting a nice bonus of the short story booklet to take the sting out of Amazon dropping this version of the release to £14 aswell.

Manga Entertainment might also start releasing chipboard artbox editions!

The current consensus is that Funimation tends to play it fast and loose with their translations. Note how their dubbed works aren't credited as "Dubbed" but rather "Reversioned". Maybe they ("they" probably being Mike McFarland) took one too many liberties this time, and someone was upset enough to have them redo the dub.

In that matter the fingers are pointing to Studio Khara, what with Funimation claiming that they want to bring Eva 3.33 more in line with Khara's vision. But why should a Japanese company with Japanese as its first language, even be bothered by the quality of an English dub job? If that were really the case then there are countless Sentai titles that ought still to be in dubbing limbo...

My guess on all the circumstantial evidence is that the initial dub was not well-received at all, and now Funimation is redoing it while not wanting to admit to any blunder on their part.

If Aniplex announce Rebellion before Christmas, it could a trilogy boxset. If it is, then I can't stop my US preorder in time, but at this point I don't trust Aniplex not to screw Manga over. I can always resell my Aniplex version.

Telling us to save implies a series to me.

Hoping for Sailor Moon.

Considering how the first two Madoka Magica movies are receiving a dubbed release in Japan later this year, I wouldn't be surprised if MangaUK are waiting for the eventual Rebellion dub before releasing a complete box set.

I imagine Aniplex would only let MangaUK do a a box set of Beginnings/Eternal, then a release of Rebellion later down the line (to match the Japanese and American release formats). However, in the past haven't MangaUK indicated that they only want Rebellion and are hesitant as Aniplex are only selling the films as a trilogy?

If I remember correctly, the TV series didn't sell amazingly for them. Which probably falls on Aniplex USA's fancy limited edition releases being region free and their website outright saying that they can ship to the UK. Personally, I own all three of Aniplex USA's limited editions of the series, as well as the Japanese import releases of the three movies because of better physical extras (including Yuki Kajiura's soundtrack CDs and posters that have plastered a wall of my bedroom), a super pretty release (have you seen the inside of Aniplex Japan's Rebellion limited edition? It's beautiful) and I know a future UK release would just be barebones) and the fact that no local licensor had announced the series by the time the US sets came out (which is why I'm holding back and waiting for the local Attack On Titan and Toradora BDs - because the US extras don't entice me enough to warrant paying double the price and I know there is an alternative coming).
