The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Hmm, the planned November release of Space Dandy from Anime Limited is only for the first season. Wonder if that means we'll be getting a second set early next year seeing as the second season should be finished in October.

FUNimation Entertainment announced today at their Anime Boston Industry Panel that they have acquired the home video rights to A Certain Scientific Railgun S. The series will release on DVD in two parts this summer.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT. Screw you Funi. I could forgive you for not putting Index and Railgun out on BD because of the whole Geneon thing, but Railgun S? The first Raildex series to actually be animated in HD? (~900p vs 540p)
To think that I actually got excited for a moment. The dub for Railgun was pretty abyssmal - that combined with the lack of BD means I'll be sticking with BDrips for this one.
I really wish that the BD Boxes Geneon released in Japan recently had subs considering the poor treatment of the series in English speaking territories.

And Eren's English voice is....Bryce Papenbrook.

Wasn't expecting that, has he ever worked for Funi before? Good choice though, I like his performances as Tiz in Bravely Default and Rin in Blue Exorcist. Hell I even liked him as Asbel in Tales of Graces. Yuuki Kaji's performance in the Japanese version really did surprise me (I usually find him tolerable at best, but I liked him here), but I'm definitely interested to hear Eren in English.

He was really good as Tiz Arrior in Bravely Default, but I can't see Bryce doing Eren. Hopefully he'll surprise me.

First things first, I didn't realize I hadn't replied to anything in so long in this thread. xD So I'll for now skip my rant on the usage of "soon" and my drooling over the boxart of the FR Kill La Kill release.

I'm pretty worried about the cramming/compressing of BD discs, in regards to K (UK), Kamisama Kiss and Psycho Pass. Though I honestly think this might be "Japan" sending inferior masters if it comes to Funimation's releases. Ahhh well, one thing's for sure: I won't be getting the UK release of K. DVD sized casing alone is a downer.

For the second season of Mushishi I hope they can reassemble the season 1 dub-cast for the second season's physical release. Rumour has it S1 has a great dub.

Interesting to hear in the podcast that the edict on NTSC DVD release no-nos at Manga come from higher up the food chain.
The people at Starz sound like noobs, most definitely. I don't think Jerome is telling lies on the matter of NTSC discs to fool us.

I like Kin-iro Mosaic, I watched it in Japanese with English Subtitles last october and can say that, under the assumption this is a full second season, I'll be watching this during the season it'll air.

Funimation USA Classic Line version of Is This A Zombie? doesn't include the OVA on Blu-ray and also has locked subtitles.
How big is the chance that it'll get included with the second season BD whenever that gets greenlit? It is not that I consider lacking OVAs a dealbreaker, I own Another on BD without episode 0 and don't own Love Hina Again (though I'd like to acquire that). However, if it really is region A only I'll not be able to watch this show through legal means, unless MVM decide to upgrade it to BD as well.

Could this affect Anime Limited's plans to get the first season out this fall?
One could say yes as Andrew might not be able to move up the date to his initial projected goal of MCM Comic Con october. And one could say no as we are region B territory.
I haven't made up my mind yet whether I want to watch Space Dandy, but that doesn't forbid me to ponder upon certain questions like that.

A part of me has a dream that Anime Limited shall surprise us with the acquisition of the entire RailDex franchise for BD premium release. It's plausible I think.

UP1 claim it's A & B and it's out very soon so there should be some news regarding this title's region.

Crunchyroll now has the Great Teacher Onizuka Taiwan Drama series

Fate/stay night 2014 Remake Images Leaked + Vita Game Announced

http://www.otakutale.com/2014/fatestay- ... announced/

Oh boy these images looks so good and the characters design are nice too. Its not gonna be "childish" anymore like the original series. At least I didnt like it...

Ufotable is gonna make this one big. :D

It says on the news that a full trailer of the anime will be available within a few days.

Well, it's been mentioned in the Release Date thread, but here is the news from Manga UK's facebook:

1) We will be releasing One Piece movie "Strong World" on DVD and Blu-ray on 30th June 2014.

2) We also will be releasing the One Piece movies 1-9 in the UK!
(NOTE: Out of all of these only one, Movie 8: Episode of Alabasta, has been dubbed into English. Therefore movies 1-7 & 9 will be in Japanese language audio with English subtitles only.) We will more information about the release of these movies soon.

3) We can confirm we will be releasing Ghost In The Shell: ARISE in the UK. (We're unable to confirm any other details than that at this time.)

4) Later this year we will be releasing the original movie of Ghost in The Shell as a Limited Edition Blu-ray Steelbook. (To clarify, this is the original version of the film, not the "2.0" version.)
More details will be made available on this soon.

5) Attack on Titan Part 1 will be coming to DVD, Blu-ray and as a Blu-ray Deluxe Collector's Edition package on 15th September. Part 1 will include episodes 1-12 of the series.

The Blu-ray Deluxe Collector's Edition version will have:
-Episodes 1-12 over 2 Blu-ray discs.
-A bonus DVD disc containing over 100 minutes of bonus material.
- A 24-page booklet.
- A box cover that will be able to house both Part 1 and Part 2 when released.

NOTE: Our plan is to release Part 2 before the end of the year. Release date for Part 2 is TBC at this time.

That's all for the announcements! We'll have more details on all these soon!

It's great that we're getting One Piece movies 1-7 and 9 before even the US, though I suppose if you watch the series with the dub it's not so great news. Attack on Titan's Collector's Edition sound good too, though I'm personally not one for that sort of thing.

Looking pretty good, though I'd expect nothing less after Zero.

Seems like they tweaked the guys designs more than the ladies, shiro in particular.

Lets see, from those shots we have Gilg walking down the street past Sakura, I recall that happening early in the Visual Novel, can't recall what route but it could easily be worked into any of the storylines given it's right near the beginning. Guess we'll have to wait a bit to see if they picked a specific route or if they'll do something original.

And here it is the trailer for the new fate/stay night. Its CAM though. Should be out officialy in the next days.

No impact - I plan to have pre-sales ready for MCM Expo anyway too :).

Best,

Andrew
