The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

I'd imagine so. Doesn't do my android using arse any damn good.

I am just so ******* tired of this nonsense. I just want to give them my godamned money and get some mofoing manga in return and Viz have done their damnedest to ensure that doesn't happen.

So it seems that Sentai have decided to dub the Highschool of the Dead: Drifters of the Dead OVA after all. They announced it a while back but then they seemed to forget about it. In any case a DVD/BD release is coming in November. I expect that Manga will get bombarded on their social media channels from tomorrow morning :p

Oh and Sentai are releasing a whole load of other stuff at the end of the year, including WHO IS IMOUTO. All dubbed too, though Little Busters BD rights are still being negotiated. They've got a cool new deal with Tatsunoko as well, which should mean some nice catalogue releases like Casshan.

Also, Funi have 009:RE Cyborg (perhaps they teamed up with Anime Limited to hire NYAV Post to dub?) and Hal, plus they're streaming Hyperdimension Neptunia.

Watch Jerome rage. First Aniplex and Blue Exorcist, now this xD

Oh dear, cue another blu ray/dvd combo where the dub is only on the blu ray.

Clearly the right course of action is to take initiative and make UK based dubs again. By night, Jerome will become The Dub, costumed sworn enemy to those who interpret Japanese through timed captions at the exclusion of everything else. His endless mission will be to give every prepubescent boy role to ether Maria Darling or the Horrid Henry woman (who I have just learned are two different people)

Annoyed that Shonen Jump Alpha is only iOS, although is it possible to download and view it just via iTunes on a PC? But that would still require me downloading iTunes which I have zero interest in doing.

Having owned an Ipod and been in that insepid ecosystem, I can tell you right now that you'll need an iOS device to do this (Which limits you to either a screen far too small for it with an I-touch or forking over a small morgage for an Ipad) buying the app from the Itunes store will do nothing for you.

Android support is coming "later". Also, from a Tweet from Viz Media UK, access to the Viz Media app is also coming "soon".

So I'll have to resort to other methods to catch up on Nisekoi...

IIRC it's possible to get the back issues with a US account, or at least it was back when I looked into it before SJA let UK folk subscribe at all. I think this is great; a major revolution in digital manga for those of us who want to support the technology. Support for more devices should be the next step.

This moment was pretty much the reason my other half wanted an iPad to begin with ^^;

Yeah, they've said the UK can't get back issues or the Yu-Gi-Oh! promo cards. Which is a shame, as I really loved the first Nisekoi chapter (it struck me as a kind of Beelzebub meets Toradora) and World Trigger.

Just noticed that Australia's Madman release of Stein's;Gate on DVD is NTSC...
Here's a list of all their NTSC titles as of March.
I colour them blue on my master list.

I don't like those wuss-ass punk air quotes over that "soon". That looks like a "soon" that will be still "soon" this time next decade.
I assume it is "soon" as in that is the exact word used in whatever source ANN are quoting.

Well no, it's only been released on DVD thus far because it's not worth the costs to put 15 mins or whatever it is on a BD, or remastering the series discs to include it.

If we could sell the dubs to the US, fine, but they like making their own. They sometimes make their own even when a UK dub already exists (e.g. GiTS Innocence) or just plain don't release it at all (Millennium Actress), even when we went to the lengths of using a US studio and translating yen into dollars (Space Show).

They were told plenty of times that Sentai was going to be dubbing it so nobody is to blame but themselves.

This needs to happen more often.

WHAT? WHEN? TAKE ALL OF MY MONEY ANIPLEX! (Seriously just take all of it. Between F/Z, SAO, Madoka Movies, Blue Exorcist and Garden of Sinners I won't be able to buy much else anytime soon ;_;)
