Ron Howard? I thought he gave up acting to be a film director. I know Anderson played Moro, The Wolfgod in Princess Mononoke, but this has got to be a first for the rest. Howard must be doing it for beer money.
You. Arrested Development. Listen to the Narrator. Like right **** now!
I fail to see the significance.
Ron Howard narrates the show. And he's quite hilarious at times.

Anyway, Behind the Voice Actors have announced their inaugural Anime Dub Awards (Yes it says 2012, but the nominations don't close until the 11th of this month) and here's the link if you want to cast your votes. LINKY

Narration isn't exactly "acting" as a character, and I had a look at those VA nominations, but I didn't see Gillian Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Beau Bridges, Christina Hendricks, Ron Howard, Chris Noth, Aubrey Plaza and Anton Yelchin in any of those lists of catagories, so I still don't see the significance related to them being VAs for the dub of "Up On Poppy Hill". Sorry.

Hiro Mashima has just now tweeted: "Anime is not the end. Don't stop believing".
We all know that there is something else to announce following the news that the anime is ending at the end of the month. Maybe this was a hint towards more to come, or reassurance that the manga will still go on?

I don't think theirsbailiff intended there to be any relation between those two sentences. This is a general news thread, not every bit of news has to be related to every other bit of news.

I'm hoping it's a case of the anime continuing in another form if its got no chance of a TV series return - maybe OVAs?

Here's a new trailer for the upcoming Pokémon movie ExtremeSpeed Genesect! Mewtwo's Awakening!.
The text at the end says that we don't know the real Mewtwo yet...hmmm..

Whoops, forgot to separate that.

Anime Limited has uploaded the Top Sellers of January 2013

http://www.alltheanime.com/top-sellers-january-2013/
It's great that AL are putting these sales charts out publically, really puts some perspective on the uk industry. I expected Canaan to be higher than 10th with it being so cheap on play.com the other week, based on what it says under the chart it may only have sold 100 copies since release. It's no wonder MVM are so reluctant to do BluRays.

EDIT: Oh right, that's just for January. I really should read these things properly before posting
I guess those Canaan sales were mostly preorders so its not too bad considering the short amount of time it was on sale.

That fact about only need to sell more than 100 copies to overtake Canaan is pretty depressing. Although it'd be nice to have the exact dates that the figures account for, because Canaan only officially came out with 3 days of January to go.

Wow, I guess that means Needless part one sold less than 100 copies despite being out for three weeks longer than Canaan. Ouch.

On the Facebook page Andrew asks "Interested by the charts? Something you'd like to know specifically?" So I'm sure he'd answer that for you if you ask nicely ;-)

I think I'll do just that. ;)

Edit: Didn't want to double post:

Manga have revealed that the release of Penguindrum will be across two parts, rather than a single complete collection. Part 2 has no set date yet, but they're aiming for Q3 this year.

Glad to see DBZ still going strong, makes me feel less guilty about thinking of getting the Funi sets.

I dunno, that bit about you only need to sell 100+ copies to be number 10 in the list is kinda deperessing, means every sale really does matter.

I think there will be quite a big difference between 1st and 10th place. I'd imagine by quite a lot too but would be nice to see some actual figures.

I'll be ordering Blood C and un-Go and have already pre-ordered FMA Brotherhood all on Blu-ray so be backing the UK market big time over the coming months. I might still get the UK releases yet, especially if the price drops, plus I'm already renting DBZ from LoveFilm, so still putting something into Manga UK's pockets for this. :p

This may be a stupid question but did sub only releases suddenly become viable or is this (Mayo Chiki) part of MvM's experiment to see how sub only releases do?

Also I do think Anime on Line has a somewhat unfair advanatge in being able to list things 1st :D

MVM seemed to assume it would receive a dub - it didn't. It was moved to this year (was supposed to be Nov 2012 for release if I remember right).

It seems to me that Sentai DvD = sub, BD = dub, I might be wrong on that ofc but overall that seems to hold out. I guess MvM might of liscenced early prior to knowing what would come of it though.

As for the show itself it was fairly enjoyable, nice to see something actually do something intersting with a harem setup rather than having all the girls competing for the male lead. If it does even moderately well it could lead to more sub only stuff, which would turn MvM's error into an oportunity.
