The General Conversation Area

Just got in from a night out, had 14 pints of Guinness, 5 pints of stella, 1 pint of carlsberg and 3 bottles of cherry flavoured vodka, my mate found out the hard way that drinking drink for drink with me only leads to a one way ticket to chunder town :)

Just downed a donner kebab and now fore abit of Darker than black season 2 to round the evening off.

Had a meeting with a rep from a job agency this afternoon. Hopefully they can find me something suitable.

Didn't realise you were unemployed man, good luck with finding something else though. What did you have in mind by way of a 'suitable' job, ideally?

I was made redundant end of November when the company went into voluntary liquidation. Most of the jobs available during December were seasonal (plus my notice period was 12 weeks) so I have stepped up my job search since January.

The job agency in question is one I already knew as I met a rep back in 2000 a couple of weeks prior to getting a job via the local jobs centre.

The kind of job I am looking for is full time Purchase Ledger Clerk (I have 12 years of experience in this job plus 2 years as an accounts assistant) ideally within walking distance or a short bus ride away.

I've just always been able to handle my drink :) I did prep my stomach with food and milk before i hit the town so that i wouldnt end up completely wrecked.

The gym sessions are brutal! i'm literally pushing myself everytime i go to the gym thank heavens for protein shakes is all i can say, without them to help rebuild my torn muscles i'd be walking around as if i was a robot haha

Sorry to hear about your job Manga :/ heres to you getting another one soon *raises cup of apple juice*

*raises cup of water as well*

All change in my place of work, new boss's boss (if that makes sense) coming in from the start of May, and new bosses like to change things for the sake of change to get their method of stuff into play, and with my current boss getting promoted to elsewhere in the business [it's a job she has been after a while] from next month things might get a bit hairy. She isn't being replaced as such, so my team are a bit worried at the moment at what could happen to us.

I got sent the latest holiday booklet from the company I went to America with (Newmarket holidays) and I've identified a couple interesting looking trips for next year, I will just see if I can find someone to go with me. I've done 2 solo trips and during the daytime it's good but in the evening, in places where there isn't much of a nightlife it gets a bit lonely.

Yesterday I went to my soon-to-be place of work and gave my soon-to-be-boss the last bits of paperwork she needed (proof of National Insurance and one of Mum's utility bills). Hopefully I'll still be on track for a 2nd April start. Apparently I'll need to come in at some point to sign some papers so I can start work before CRB results can come back - I have no criminal record and my role as an apprentice Clinical Genetics Office Administrator will feature very little patient contact (if any), so starting with a pending CRB will apparently be fine. My boss also told me that it's going to be a learning curb for her and the two other managers as well, as they've never had an apprentice in an administrator position before. Also, they're apparently flexible with times, as long as I work all of my 7 hours a day and finish no later than 5 (excluding the unpaid 30 minute break), so I'm going to see if they'll let me start at 9:30am, which will mean I finish at 5pm but will mean Mum can drop me off while on the school run, saving money on transport.

I also think I might have decided my first long-term savings goal. Last night, I had a dream where I went to one of the Pokémon Centre stores in Japan and it's lingered with me since waking up. Always been a dream, but I've decided to make it my first goal. I'll be starting work in April and I won't be on much, but I figure that as I still live at home, if I save up for about a year or two, I should have enough for a brief holiday...and some spending money to go absolutely fecking crazy with. Maybe if I tentatively plan it for 2015, I might even have enough money to take someone with me too.
Has always been a dream, so now I'll make it a goal.

I also had another dream about me being part of a secret government agency that was set around intervening in Okabe and the Future Lab's struggle with CERN, but that probably won't happen...especially as I woke up with the Strike Witches on my mind for some reason. :/

You know what they say, the bigger the title, the less important the job haha, I joke ofcorse - its nice to see another forumite join the NHS ranks, i presume you'll be on a band 2 post but even so thats a decent enough wage; a few of my friends have gone through uni and are in jobs earning less than your paypacket will be so thats atleast an inspiring thought.

Good for you man :) i like the closing piece, so full of ambition. I've never heard of a Poke Centre store before - it'd be strangee if you walk in and its arranged to look exactly like a poke centre, with an old man walking around, kids sat on a chair trying to trade a pokemon with you and somebody has a life sized jigglypuff in the corner just bouncing on the spot lol

Morning glory for strike witches? thats understandable lol

As for me, i've finally received my 24hour ECG results; apparently i have sinus arrhythmia so im off to a cardiologist soon, got to swing by the GP on monday to have a more in depth chat about it but for my RR readings to spike from 0.76 to 1.4 within a single heartbeat is apparently bad.

As an Apprentice...£100 a week, so £2.80 an hour.

Pokémon Centres are basically stores where they sell all kinds of Pokémon merchandise. There's one in Tokyo, Sapporo, Tohoku, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka.

And yeah, a friend of mine commented on how I worded the last bit when I told him too xD

I didn't say anything about morning glory xD

And that medical speak is why I'm in administration, not clinical xD. Doesn't sound nice though.

EDIT: WTF is up with quotes atm? Removed the quotes because it messed up.

Really? as i'm guessing you'll be in the NHS (which as far as im aware; we dont have apprentices) so the band 2 salary for a admin assistant is bound by the agenda for change pay scales. The bottom of band 2 would still be £7.50 an hour... If you're with a private clinic then thats the only reason why i could see you getting paid at that rate.

As for Pokecentres
You haven't mentioned if there are bouncing jigglypuffs so for now i'll let my imagination continue
It does sound like an interesting place to go though, surely they'll have a few store only cards or something that you could only buy in store just to make it even more special.

Well if you're not waking up with wood... i'm afraid i have bad news for you son lol

QUOTE:And that medical speak is why I'm in administration, not clinical xD. Doesn't sound nice though.

I'm in Administration too, one pay grade down from being an office manager infact, but i'm still required to have some medical knowledge as my data reports directly correlate to patients referrals  I'm having fainting attacks several times a week so thats why i've been signed off since november last year, doctors are still trying to find the cause.

Yeah the quotes are broken to hell right now :/ it kept changing [/quote] into r/quote]

Yup, it's an apprenticeship at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. My department manager said that they haven't had apprenticeships in that department before. What's annoying is, I can't get income support because I'd have to either be over 25 or have a kid.

They don't really have store only cards...but there are a hell of a lot of products you can only buy there. I've managed to import a few through eBay sellers, like a plush of the Substitute doll from the games.

And ah, that doesn't sound good :/. Hope they can find out what's up.

Ahh, well its news to me for a hospital to have an apprentice, usually the closest thing hospitals do is a preceptership which is a 9 month placement for student nurses

In that case if/when i manage to go across to japan i'll make sure to take a ganders myself.

I received my test results in the post this afternoon, seems theres a nerve in my heart thats not keeping my heartbeat in rhythm to my breathing so when it goes to pot i black out. Have an appointment with my GP on monday.

Ouch! That sounds nasty. I hope everything turns out okay.

With Japan, it's all just preliminary stuff at the moment. In the coming months etc, I'll probably do some research, into things like places I'd like to see etc, whether I'd go alone or not etc.

Its not too bad, the upshot of it is that i'm at home playing on the playstation, watching anime and generally chilling out.

Im not sure i could go away to somewhere i've never been before all on my own - for 1 thing i'm a very sociable creature, to keep me isolated to my own thoughts would probably drive me insane within a few days. for 2 it'd be abit daunting walking around at night because on the rare chance that anything ever happened theres atleast safety in numbers.

Have you thought about asking a friend to go with you? Might make things less lonesome.

I've just had a thought about holidays, if i was to book a flight for me and the missus but book a room for me alone then it'd be cheaper, i could give my all inclusive band to the missus then go to reception and ask for a new all inclusive band after a few hours and that should be cheaper. Chances are nobody will cotton on and i'll only have to pay the bulk of the holiday on the flights... genius.

A friend of mine who I mentioned the idea too has suggested he tag along, but it all depends on how his house hunt goes. I also wonder if he'll like me taking him to loads of otaku tourist spots xD. I'm sure he'd be up for the Pokémon Centres though.

If it comes to me going alone though, I don't think I'd mind. I'm often the type left to my own devices and for the night thing, I probably just wouldn't go out too late at night.

That would be very awkward unless I learn some Japanese fast (to say "No thank you", of course 9.9).

Anyways, I went all the way into town to go to GAME, as the distribution for the Pokémon Meloetta was supposed to have started today...except Nintendo have yet to send any of the stores in my city the download cartridges 9.9

Fecking Nintendo UK.

Following a tutorial, I made my first ever game yesterday. :D It is a very simple affair (click on a moving object to make it reappear in another location, at an even faster speed, which you then have to click again, and so on indefinitely).

It's not polished whatsoever, but it helped introduce me to sprite/object/event/level creation. Gonna do another game/tutorial tonight. :)

When swimming tonight I got called a pervert by a girl (guessing 14-17 age group), basically she was doing back stroke and I didn't see her in time after getting out of the way of another oncoming swimmer so accidentally crashed into her.

There should be a rule against people doing back stroke in an open pool, it's ok when it's been laned off.

Ah well, stuff happens. Nobody was hurt.
