Has any one ordered from Play-asia before? If so what are they like?
Good selection of Asia releases with English Subtitles. Great place to find Asia PS4/Switch games!

Slightly higher price than other stores for things like Figures / Japanese Blurays

VAT collected at checkout for UK customers

Overall pretty good service

Negative point - If you get points and it lists them as "Does not expire". They do expire after 2 years

Not sure when it changed but I've noticed that Amazon now require you to spend £35.00 for free delivery for non-Prime members and I thought it was bad when it went from £20.00 to £25.00.

Books are still £10.00 for free delivery though.

I'm not surprised of course but Amazon are sure getting greedy, first with requiring you to pay a bit extra for non-ads on Prime Video even though you're already paying for Prime and now this.

I rarely get Prime anyway, just not worth it for me.

Yeah, I wish I could just have prime for the free delivery and that’s it. I barely watch any shows on it, in the last three months I’ve watched two Gamera movies and that’s it.
I suspect you won't be alone with just wanting prime to go back to being just free next day delivery without the various extra 'benefits' which hardly anybody use.
Unlink it from the video service which like most streaming sites only have a certain number of programmes worth watching.

I’m waiting to watch Cats Eye series before hitting this. I’m sure I won’t need to watch much but want more familiarity.

This was my first exposure to Cat's Eye and I wasn't to lost mind you, like Lupin it's very easy to jump in.

I did start watching Cat's Eye shortly after this though, really need to get back to it, only 12 episodes in so far and with S2 on its way from the Discotek sale I have no excuse not to watch it all now.

The Cat's Eye crew also appear in City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes if you're interested.

Pretty sure they'll be in the upcoming City Hunter: Angel Dust movie as well along with Lupin.

I have Shinjuku Eyes waiting at Stackry right now, I need to pull my finger out with City Hunter, I got a few eps in and enjoyed it but Yowamushi Pedal arrived and that’s been in the player since.

I got home last night to find that my television switched on, the sound was great but the screen black.
It seems this is the backlight. TV is 5.5 years old.

Unfortunately, I cannot make up my mind to repair or replace.
The repair estimate is £80/90 but this isn't firm and I would have to carry it to the repair shop. It is not far.
I do not know how long it will take. What if the repair lasts 4 years but something else breaks down.

Or

I could go to Curry's tonight after work and replace my 32inch with another for £129.99 or a 40inch for £169.99.
Carry it home (would be a bit awkward but I have done it before), put it together and start watching.
Going to a shop is better for me as I can check the back. I need 2+ HDMI, USB and ideally the red, white, yellow connection.

Just can't make up my mind.
Anyone with firm views??

Does it still work out cheaper to repair it if you factor in the cost of say, a taxi for the two journeys you will make with the TV? That's the first thing I'd consider?

I would carry it to the bus stop and get the bus. Probably 5 minutes from shop.
The repair shop is a 20 minute walk and I would carry it as it's not heavy.
I think for me it is that a new TV is not much more.

@Otomo if you purchase from Curry’s, use topchashback to get some cashback on it.

I use that site for all my big purchases and ended up getting a decent amount of cashback over the last year (around £250 total).

If you use my referral link you will get £10 and I get some cash too. Don’t feel obligated to use it though. The cash back can take a little time but it does come. It’s also really good if you need to purchase home or car insurance as the deals on those are usually really good. A lot of the time I just order things online using them as a referral site and then just get it delivered to the store I know I’m going to anyway. That way I can support the brick and mortar but also get a better deal.

Thanks for that.
It's not that I don't have the money. It is a dislike of spending money on electronics.
I would rather it went on drinking, smoking, sex, anime and watching football.
Although sometimes they are all connected.

My last 2 televisions were a gift.

Yeah, I get you. Good thing about that site is that you can get paid in vouchers for other stores and usually get a bonus for doing that. I’ve used most of my cashback for buying things from Ikea, that way it’s not like I’m spending “real money” on furnishings etc; it’s just a nice bonus. Buying anime has paid me back by getting me free shelves for said anime 🤣

I have been using TopCashBack for about 4 years now, and I've gotten a good bit of money back from my online purchases. It even recently started to include the Crunchyroll US website, it says up to 8% cash back, but it hasn't been active long enough yet to see any cash coming into my account from CR. I will keep an eye on it so see if I actually get anything back for my recent Blu-ray purchases. I think it can take a month or two before the retailers fulfill the paybacks.

It was similar to my big TV which lost its backlight for the screen randomly one weekend, sound worked fine. Although that was more 10 years old so I ordered a new telly from Currys (and also a new stand because the older stand was too small, doh!). Repairing modern TVs is an art form in itself due to the way they are manufactured to be hard to repair as possible.

Anyhow in other news, I have got myself a new job, applied for it originally back in November doing online tests but then heard radio silence, so come January I had assumed I didn't make it past the first round or my answers to the online tests weren't what they were looking for, after-all you don't always get an email saying "sorry, not this time punk". Whilst on a disused railway line walk in April I was close to the end and wanted to see the predicted arrival time to the bus stop for how long I would have to wait for the half hourly bus service when I got an email inviting me for an assessment day.

Passed said assessment day with a formal interview scheduled a couple of weeks later, for a near 2 week wait of "did I say what they wanted to hear" and "damn I should have answered that question with 'Y'" before getting a phone call saying I was successful subject to medical. Had said medical earlier in the week and I passed, so come mid August I'm due to start my long training to become a train guard.

More money for anime lol 🤪
