my consciousness fades. when I wake, I shall possibly be offering back rubs to someone who can photoshop a few images from claymore.

Reminds me of those recent cases of bakers refusing to sell celebratory cakes to same-sex couples on religious grounds, or hotels similarly refusing accommodation for the same reason. Discrimination under the guise of "religion" won out in the end.

Where do y'all stand on that, folks?
Much as I don't like discrimination and feel that people who discriminate like that are wrong to do so, I'd honestly rather know what people's true feelings were so I could NOT give them my business (similar to how I feel about hate speech laws really, I'd rather know who the racist d*cks are than force them to keep their views a secret so no-one knows that they're racist d*cks) - I don't really know why a gay couple would want to give homophobes their business after finding out that fact. It seems like giving your business to a company that isn't homophobic and welcomes the business of gay people would be a better choice than trying to force money and business on people who don't like you. Why would they even deserve it?

Woah. Just looked that place up. How did I not know about it?
I've been to The Weald and Downland museum at Singleton near Chichester a few times down the years, which is a very similar type of place.

 I actually never remember the name of The Weald and Downland musuem, I just called it the old building musuem when describing it to people even though I have been there a few times many years ago. I was actually thinking the other week how nice it would be to see how it's doing.

I haven't been for a while either. I must have gone as a child, we used to go to all sorts of historic places. Then I went with Uni (about 20 years ago) and then again about 10 or so years ago, I also went to Fishbourne Villa iirc the same day. So probably due a revisit!
Are you another South Coast member of AUKN?

Not very good at explaining **** XD
No, you explained it very well. :)

That's a typically smart and pragmatic view, ayase. I likewise couldn't understand why you'd want to force the sale, tbh. Though I suppose that the furore it created at least raised awareness in the media.

For me, it's probably best if I don't get myself started on the topic of religion. I just wish people would focus on the here and now, rather than what's (not) going to happen to us after we go. Surely then the world would function better.

I have been there twice on school trips. I have been to Fishbourne on a different school trip too, I love the mosaics there. Yep South Coast member here :)

Thanks ^^ I was trying to look at it from a neutral standpoint I guess. I don't condone what happened at all, but as someone who has struggled for years to regain principles and morals that I myself am comfortable with, people have the right to believe in what they want - yes in this case it was bigotted and homophobic, but let them do as they please and take your custom somewhere where it will be welcomed and accepted.

Indeed, religion is a complex subject, it's likely why NGE makes little to no sense ;)

I've nothing against people holding personal beliefs that help them in their own lives and they don't expect others to adhere to. But I've everything against belief being used as a control system over others, whether by a religious leader to control their followers or religious parent to control their children. And what you've described there is the classic punishment/reward control system of most organised religion:

You pretty much explained it better than I ever could. I like a good discussion however I'm not always articulate in putting my point across; I'm not used to actually being able to involve myself in discussion these days...
