I had the cheapest option selected. I still think it's BS, Rightstuf is charging less for standard international shipping (comes to about £8.90) than UP1 are shipping within the UK.

Yeah it does seem a bit high, but royal mail tracked postage is a serious rip off these days, especially next day delivery. I would have ordered mine from rightstuf too, however over the last few months 100% of my imports that are over the customs threshold have been caught. I even had one for £9.30 the other day (£8.00 of that went to royal mail), so I think I've been flagged by them or something.
 
Doing some estimates, ordering from UP1 with their extortionate shipping and ordering from Rightstuf with possible customs makes it about the same. I only go with RS because there is a chance it could potentially make it through, making it far cheaper. That and UP1 declined my card when I last tried to use them and I don't want to deal with that again.
 
Yeah its true I could just have been unlucky recently, I might see what amazon.com have it up for as they can add VAT which will make it easier over all. I just want to get my pre-order in somewhere so I know its coming.
 
Speaking of ordering from Rightstuf, I've only been stung 2 out of the last 10 or so shipments from them which I think is pretty good, especially when the majority of the 10 shipments consisted solely or partly of AoA titles so very happy with that lol. There was a time I was being hit for everything, so decided to stick with UP1USA but recently have had more luck with Righstuf in terms of not getting stung for customs, plus they've had quite a few sales recently and for Sentai titles I've been making use of that GotAnime membership discount.
 
I'm not fussed about paying VAT, its the £8.00 or even £12.00 'handling' charge. When I said 100% I'm meaning like 8/8 items not just from 1 source, I've ordered all kinds of things from different suppliers. Just seems a bit suspect that they all got caught over a 3 month period.
 
Yeah I'm always sure to have things shipped separately from Righstuf. I did a bulk order in the past and it ended up in the hands of f***ing parcel force - ever since then, maximum two sets at once (unless they are standard/cheap editions) that way it will be picked up by the post office and they only charge £8 (not perfect but at least the cheapest fee).
