The Anime/Manga I Bought Today Was...

I'll have to pre-order from HMV in the future then...

I got my Escaflowne set this morning, but I don't know when I'll watch it. (for the record I brought it for the memories of it on Fox Kids, so I won't be needing the subtitles, god help me...)

I had planned to watch it now, but I ordered the two Mobile Fighter G-Gundam anime legends sets from America a month ago and they've FINALLY arrived, so I'll probably watch that first as I've never seen it before. It's the last Gundam series I have yet to see, apart from 00 as the sets are a bit too expensive at the moment...

After looking at both lists, all I have seen from the 1990s are X - The Movie and Doomed Megalopolis (also known as Teito monogatari)

X - The Movie, while being well animated falls down in that there are too many characters and not enough time to introduce them - only the two leads Kamui Shirô and Fûma Monô get a decent amount of screen time. It is good but not as good as the series.

Doomed Megalopolis - A four episode OVA. It is a horror series set around the early 20th century. I have only seen it once in the mid 1990s. Despite being only 4 episodes the run time is around 175 minutes.

Here are some reviews,

I figured revisiting Doomed Megalopolis would make a change from watching all the moe/harem shows that get released nowadays :)

A used copy of
Spriggan: Special Edition from CEX. though if I have to be honest it's only to listen to the (Jonathan) Clementary :)

Who knows, maybe I'll like the anime, maybe I'll like the OST, which if I do, also came with the dvd.

Doomed Megalopolis: Special Edition
Fantastic,i,ve always had a soft spot for Doomed Megalopolis and still watch it every once and awhile, takes me back to the old days of buying anime on VHS and when i was first getting into anime,i still regard it a classic to this day, very underrated show.

It's been awhile since I last ordered anything. And, likewise, it's been awhile since I last posted in this thread.

Special A has been on my Sentai radar for awhile. PlayUSA weren't willing to play ball, though, so I never picked it up until now - when I finally bothered ordering the second half of Mermaid.

You could have had Special A a bit cheaper from third-party Amazon sellers. Pro-tip: if a release has a $40 retail price (check Right Stuf or Amazon), you should be able to get it from those third-party sellers for under £18.

Coincidentally, yesterday I placed my first order in a while, for both Romeo x Juliet sets. The first I got cheap from Axel and the second I got cheap from an American ebay seller. Total price was £21-22, undercutting the complete collection by a few quid.

I did check the Amazon.co.uk sellers before buying - oddly enough, because you taught me in the past about the prices when you got me to buy SR S2. But, in the end, I stuck with Axel 'cause the difference was only a few quid and they send from within Europe, where as the Amazon sellers send from the US.

You might as well have just ordered the complete collection if you were going to pay over £20 anyway for a series you're sure to hate due to the puppy love and lack of school girls...

There's really no advantage in ordering from Axel as it takes about the same amount of time for delivery. But as long as you're happy, dear.

And isn't Juliet 15? She may not go to school but she's the right age.
