I'm quite fond of this one, it's a shame there's still only a DVD version available. It's a nice comedy/drama about growing up and about looking back on your childhood. There's a supernatural element but it's mostly used to establish the situation and give the opportunity to explore the perspectives of the characters and give them opportunities to grow and develop.
It's the sort of show that tends to get overlooked, so I like to point it out from time to time. I suppose it's not the kind of show that ever had much chance of being a mainstream classic but it's still a very well executed piece of storytelling and character work.
Well, "attest to" sounds strong but I'd be pretty confident that you'd enjoy it. It leans more into the sketch comedy side of things rather than slice of life/character development, it's probably closer to Nichijou than Azumanga Daioh but has some elements in common with both. It's probably closer to Azumanga Daioh when it comes to surreal elements, though. I really enjoyed the show, although I'm a little wary that putting it in that company might raise expectations a bit high.

Christ, if I knew Haruhi was going to come down that fast, I wouldn't have bothered paying over $100 for it a few months back. This stings especially because I have yet to watch it, so I have gained literally nothing for buying it early. Goddammit.
