As regards to encoding costs, why couldn't we use NTSC here. Are those 96 extra lines realy worth all the effort of having to remaster everything.

I want to encourage the UK in finally getting some timely releases and I have money. It's exciting to me to see the UK emerging as a more interesting market, after all these years of having to import everything I watch because by the time our version is out the imports are almost free. Beez has been experimenting with all kinds of formats lately and I approve of the results if it means I get to watch Durarara!! sooner than expected.

Real eps I'd assume, Baccano's were certainly. It's on a DVD that only has 1 other TV ep on it and was anounced in pleanty of time. Not out for a while so can't be certain.Dave said:Reaper gI said:You're forgeting DVD eps on DRRR there, it's 1 ep shorter than TTGL. And isn't one of those TTGL eps a recap clip show.

Didn't know Durarara!! had extra DVD episodes, are they proper ones or cheap put together ones do you know?
Well for those few customer that has a TV or DVD player that can't handle NTSC. I agree it would be better to use NTSC version as it will save a lot of money and I can't see many people not unable to run them as most experiment now can run NTSC.

Sometimes, I really do wonder why I bother. You aren't going to change your opinion. I'm not going to change mine. What the hell's the point? All human contact seems more and more like little more than pointless conflict (the only kind of human contact I ever get involved in these days, anyway). I either stay quiet and avoid it or speak up and give myself more grief than I need. Just... have whatever opinion you bloody well like. I'm bored now.BAKA said:Far more than was really necessary
Huh! I didn't think about it that way. It does make more sense to have it in two parts instead of three!Grasslunatic said:The worst thing about the Durarara!! release isn't the price, it's splitting the show into three parts. Anyone who's been watching the show knows that it isn't structured in the same way as Gurren Lagann. The show is structured so that every 12 episodes covers one novel. It just doesn't make any sense splitting it into three parts. It'd be much better to release two volumes with 12 episodes each.
Wait, wait, wait. Are you saying you get your masters on tape? Digi-Beta, or HDcam? PM me if you want.beez_andrew said:.......Doesn't really work like that for a number of reasons - the biggest of which being a lack of Australian masters costs just under that that PER TAPE to transcode so any saving is greatly outweighed by the cost to transcode.
Nice thinking but ultimately on the grand scale of production it doesn't work out as a great saving sadly.
