Relationships and Romance

Japan's biggest problem is that they work to much, how do you expect people to mingle and form relationships when there always at work. They also put to much pressure on there kids, the poor kids spend all day studying at school then are expected to go to cram school till stupid o'clock at night.

Could be that their culture instills more of a sense of social responsibility in people than ours does
I once read a statistic about the percentage of children in Japan born outside of marriage. Whereas the UK's figure was hovering somewhere around the 50% mark, Japan's was only 1–2%. Wish I could remember the source.

I’m not sure they would think it was a sensible idea to have kids they can’t afford to look after
I also once read a column in NEO magazine by their Japan correspondent at the time, Daniel Robson. He and his wife were expecting a baby. Apparently births are not covered by medical insurance in Japan, so you can expect a hospital bill of somewhere around £3,000.

I'm sure a lot of us here would consider that absolutely p*ss-poor value for money for what you take home at the end of it.

I dare say if you had to pay that kind of figure to give birth to a child it would definitely cut down on the amount of people with kiddies running around!

On a side note I wonder how the figures for abortions would correlate.

Japan treats single mothers like ****, a big proportion of Japan's poor population is made up of single mothers and just like the homeless they get ignored or treated like a nuisance.

I swear my phone's mocking me or something. Every time I go to turn mobile data on, I'm confronted with the word 'Virgin'.

I suppose I can only blame my choice of network.

Or the fact I've never...

Yeah.

Damn the inanimate objects, they can be the cruelest!

Heh, I can but try to poke fun at my long-standing shortcoming.

I'm 36 now, you know! Oh, dear.

Gotta laugh Dude, even at ourselves ;)

I was listening to the Gundam Wing theme song when I came up with my username (there's a line with "ayamachi" in it). I Googled the meaning, apparently, it means "fatal mistake" or "error" - that pretty much sums up my life XD

@~AyaMachi~: What can I say? It's a good username! :D

Mine was inspired by... my name. No points for imagination there, then! :p

(Actually, it's recycled from a forum I used to use called Evageeks. Used to use, mind.)
Many thanks :D

Sometimes I often wonder if my life had a soundtrack, what would it be? Probably Decretum (Miki Sayaka's theme) - full of woe and despair.

Yes Neil, but your dead-panned expressioned avatar gets the thumbs up form me ;)

I'm actually just embracing my geekiness now. I'm just rolling with it, YOLO and all that!

I actually had some thoughts relating to the thead topic (so's not to derail or anything)...I have read that the Japanese government doesn't offer financial support for families. We're pretty pro-natal over here and our government gives out child support willy nilly so, if there's no financial aid, they probably think it's best to not even bother.

Pretty sure that got/is getting capped at two little ones over here. Either way it doesn’t effect me so....

Ha, haa! Thanks. :D
It's Kyon from 'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya'. (Or rather the spin-off series 'Nyoron! Churuya-san'.) The characters in it are indeed hilariously deadpan. Ever seen it?

Hmm... that one's real food for thought. That would make a thread in its own right!

That's true. I wasn't sure if it had been implemented/dropped since it doesn't apply to me either. It is also becoming more common now for women to chose not to have children (myself included); I still don't think society is ready to accept that notion (however much it thinks it is).

Haha. not seen that one, but dead-pan characters are cool in my book!

"My life in Music" :D

Sorry to drag this comment from another thread and everything, but it's provided some real food for thought since reading it:
As for Shinji, he needs to learn how to flirt, cuz he ain't doin' it right
I got to pondering how much I've ever really even attempted that in all my days. How much is it really a requirement to be able to get anywhere with, you know, the difficult stuff? I'm sure I wouldn't even be capable of it: it'd just make me feel like a total creep.

I mean, innocent conversation I can do easily; anything beyond that, though...
