AX Day 2 Recap

Kodansha Comics

Kodansha Comics announced a few additions to their catalogue. For starters they have acquired the manga version of Clockwork Planet. The original novel was written by Kamiya who wrote No Game No Life. The manga is due for English release in 2017. The anime adaptation was also confirmed to be green-lit. Next up we have Kazuto Tatsuta's Ichi-F: A Worker's Graphic Memoir of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant (ICHIEFU: Fukushima Daiichi Genshiryoku Hatsudensho Rōdōki) which will be released as a single omnibus version on March 7th 2017 (a few days before the anniversary of the Tohoku disaster). Ichi-F stands for the numerical designation for the Fukushima plant. The final manga pickup they licensed was Atsushi Ohkubo's Fire Force (En En no Shōbōtai) due for this fall, the creator also made Soul Eater. Kodansha Comics also picked up the Attack on Titan Adventure book which contains Interactive/Puzzle elements based on the story.

For digital only readers Kodansha Comics have also added Noise! by Tsutomu Nihei (Knights of Sidonia) which was once out of print but now available to read on ComiXology. In addition 4 titles from the Del Ray publisher will be added to ComiXology at the end of July; Alive, Nodame Cantabile, School Rumble and Princess Resurrection.

Sentai Filmworks

Sentai Filmworks didn't announce any new titles to their catalogue but they did offer confirmation for seven titles getting the English dub treatment; Amagi Brilliant Park, Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, Gate, Himouto! Umaru-chan, Is it Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon?, Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls, & Ushio and Tora. Expect some of these to be part of the November schedule.

Vertical

Vertical have announced only one title for their time at AX and that's the Nisemonogatari novel. The first part of two will be available on April 2017 (about 2 months after Bakemonogatari's final translated novel is released so it's quite a fast turnaround).

Other Notes

Sunrise have reported that Code Geass Blu-rays are happening for North America. Signs point towards Funimation going to announce it eventually. And during the SAO panel, they have confirmed that Sword Art Online -Ordinal Scale- will be released in theaters in Spring 2017. A new trailer was also shown:

As well as a new DVD & BD line (all titles listed for both formats currently, and all will be dubbed):
-Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
-Berserk (2016)
-Twin Star Exorcists
-Free!
-Gintama
-Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches
-Big Order
-Myriad Colours Phantom World
Huh, that got me by surprise. I figured Crunchyroll would have Kiznaiver due to being on the production committee and Aniplex would have Kabaneri.
I also would have thought Sentai would have Phantom World. At least there's hope for a decent dub though considering Funi butchered Free ES and Sentai butchers everything.
I also wonder if CR's deal with Kadokawa could result in Hyouka appearing at some point.

Free! has already been dubbed by Crunchyroll (and you can stream it there too). They commissioned Funimation to do it for them, but it reduced the elements that annoyed people about ES.

Blue Exorcist Panel

New anime will be called 'Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujō Ō-hen (Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Impure King Arc)'
Debut in 2017

Cast from Season 1 will reprise their respective roles

Koichi Hatsumi (Deadman Wonderland, Gangsta., Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I - The Egg of the King) is replacing Tensai Okamura as the director of the new series at A-1 Pictures.
Toshiya Ono (The Perfect Insider, tsuritama, Gatchaman Crowds) is handling the series composition, replacing Ryota Yamaguchi.
Keigo Sasaki is returning from the first season to design the characters.
Hiroyuki Sawano is returning to compose the music alongside newcomer Kohta Yamamoto (the same Legendoor management company represents both artists).

PV due very soon.
The anime will adapt the "Kyoto Impure King Arc" that started in the fifth volume.

That doesn't exactly make me feel too confident in this adaptation.

Good thing the title suggests just the arc itself. Otherwise we have another deadman on arrival.

Funimation have commented on D.Gray-man's latter half of Season 1, no news on the dub just yet.

Is there a reason Funi didn't license the latter half of Season 1 years ago when it aired? Was the first half a bad seller or something?

There were rumours around the time related to licensing restrictions or the fact that it sold poorly (hence S.A.V.E.). But with D.Gray-man Hallow confirmed it seems the show must have sold much better so it's quite lucky.

New - Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
4th October 2016
Collector's Edition Blu-ray
Seasons 1 & 2 together
16 art-prints
Over 3 hours of extras
Standard Season 1 & 2 sets will also be available
8 discs overall for Blu-ray

Ooooh I could be tempted by Code Geass again. Hope it looks nice, I have the Kaze sets and while I feel they do the job I'd love a nice artbox release.

Funimation have acquired the rights to Drifters, the upcoming anime adaptation from Hellsing creator.

Universal UK do have the rights to this series.

About time. I can finally chuck the Khazi trash where it deserves to be. Wonder if this one will include the 5.1 audio tracks from the recent BD Boxes.
I know it's a completely different company but Darker Than Black from Funi only had stereo audio whereas the JP BDs have surround tracks.

Edit: Seems the other thread answers my question... Can't say I've ever seen Funi include both Stereo and Surround options before, although in this case it seems like more of an Eva situation where the two audio mixes will be entirely different. Still, it would be nice if they did it more often.
Back for the series’ 10th anniversary, both seasons of Code Geass will feature a brand-new Japanese 5.1 surround sound audio mix used on the recent Japanese Blu-ray box sets—an entirely new viewing experience from previous releases. This isn’t just the original stereo audio re-mastered: the music and sound effects have actually been painstakingly re-recorded, all under the quality supervision of director Goro Taniguchi himself, to really immerse you in all the action and drama. We’re ecstatic to bring you this special new version, in addition to the original Japanese stereo audio and the original English dub.

Nice I'll finally be able to get Code Geass on blu ray. I have the bandai dvd release of both seasons but I refused the get the Kaze release.
