[Overseas] Anime News & Announcements

I think complaints about shonen are interesting considering it's a demographic rather than a genre. Would be more accurate to say action (or action shonen) when talking about series like My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan.

Just pretty funny to me since shonen covers shows across many different genres like Bloom Into You, My Hero Academia and Nichijou.
i use it more as a generic term i guess in the way i'd call a lot of american tv shows a "drama" but would acknowledge stuff like brooklyn 99 or the office are comedies, when it comes to something like Nichijou i'd call it a SoL but with Bloom into you i would've thought that was more female aimed atleast with the first couple episodes of the show

Yeah for a genre largely aimed at women it was surprising to find out Bloom Into You was published in a shonen magazine.

Describing shows as comedies or dramas at least makes sense since that's an actual genre rather than a demographic. It's a funny topic for sure.

I'm not holding out much hope of it getting released here any time soon, but I saw when scrolling through Amazon Japan that Yoshiyuki Tomino's late 90s series Brain Powerd is making its Blu-Ray debut next month

That would be nice, though of all the Tomino series I'd like to see brought out of licensing limbo Overman King Gainer is top of my list. There's no Japanese BD for that yet though.

That's not one I'm familiar with but the more the merrier! I see that Combat Mecha Xabungle is also making its HD debut in April from a new 2K scan to mark its 40th anniversary.

It would be great if more love and attention could be given to Tomino's non-Gundam series. It's great that Maiden Japan did Space Runaway Ideon at all, but it seemed to go OOP in under a year and, while my ambivalence towards packaging and tat is well documented, it really is a series that deserved a bells-and-whistles release.

The OP has everyone, including the mechs, do the funky chicken and the bumper is an amazing stop motion masterwork.

Selecta vision are releasing Neon Genesis Evangelion in Spanish €160. I've managed to get one of the more limited white box version

Looks similar to our UE but in a choice of colour lol.

Actually finished watching this show last night. It was a lot better than I remember it being, perhapes age just made me appreciate it more than when I was a teenager watching anime on Sci-Fi. End of Evangelion is on my to watch list soon as well.

Definitely some similarities (as all the blu ray versions have had) but I do prefer Misatos necklace over the Nerv pass and paperweight we got. Also there's another item yet to reveal and I think the sets are numbered. All in all for £50 quid less than the UK one it's a pretty good deal.

The one thing the UK set had was the full range of English language options by having the subs and both dubs. The Spanish one subs and old Spanish dub. I guess the new netflix Spanish dub was too expensive.
