UK Anime Distributor MVM Entertainment Discussion Thread

Also I will point out aniplex quality blu rays. A show I really think mvm would be able to get a reasonable success out of it they partnered with aus and US is zetsubou sensei. It would be a pain to translate though.

So same cost as the KNK box set, similar run time and on blu ray. Count me in on this flawed (well as a stand alone anime anyway) but good series that I was thoroughly hyped about when it came out.

When you mention flawed as a stand alone show, can you go further. Does it need fate Zero to rise above its flaws as I have yet to watch that.

Bloody hell. This sucks. I want to watch UBW dubbed but there is no affordable option. US, UK and Aus versions are all expensive as hell. I think £30-£40 would be the max I want to spend.

This has been said multiple times by me in various places but stay night is a single experience with 3 separate continuities that all work together in holy, world and character building awesomeness. Zero adds to the awesomeness of stay night and stay night adds to the awesomeness of zero. There is more mystery if you read stay night first and the reveals are more shocking but then there are still lots of good moments in stay night if you try to forget knowledge from zero but still having 'ah ha' moments when you see where stuff in zero came from and how it was set up in stay night.

These should be really nice looking discs though and I'm enough of a fan of type moon to spend this much.

Fair enough. I think it would've been better for zero to get the expensive box set with aniplex discs and stay night to get the cheaper, 4 BDs overall release. I am looking forward to getting a stay night poster. How many copies are there of this box set? The only problem is that judging by how long knk was delayed, it's gonna come out summer XD. I remember putting down my £60 for knk in august and not getting it till December- it was a nice Christmas present though considering how much the series means to me.

Unfortunately, I'm not. I liked Zero and Fate/Prisma Illya but nowhere near to the amount as everyone else seems to.

That's why you can either wait for a sale or a standard edition down the line. These releases cost more due to the fact they are the equivalent of ultimate editions and are released much sooner to the Japanese releases. Id wager that if mvm wanted to go standard route only they'd have to wait another 12-18 months.

Because companies don't have a habit of cancelling SEs if the CE doesn't sell well enough...

As much as that would be the ideal solution, until it physically exists and is your hands. I wouldn't be 100% confident a Standard Edition will be released.

Yeah I think it will be £60 I'll go for the MVM release, as Hanabee isn't even out yet.
Also as I say I prefer,UBW over Zero as I like how ameteur the grail war is and also all the better characters IMO in UBW over Zero.

Hence why I Also said "wait for a sale"

I really think as Hanabee only have a CE for BD, as our release is the same as AUS I think we have to the same set.

Yeah I'm certain that's the issue here. Hands are being tied. At least the set exists and people can buy it now and hopefully those that can't afford it right now will be able to pick it up in a sale or hopefully a standard edition is viable in the future.

With a show like fate stay night you'd assume there's enough desire from fans to support the CE as to allow a standard edition.

The folks at MVM are very down to earth, I'm sure a regular edition (sorry, I read SE as special edition...) will come along at some point. If anything it's the premium versions that tend to get cancelled with them. They also probably know how many people are likely to buy this since they have a long history with the series at this point :D

Given how briskly the F/Z art box sold out in the UK I think there's a definite market here that will be served by this high speed release. I didn't enjoy UBW so I'll sit around and wait for a cheaper option if I decide to pick it up for the handful of moments of Seki Tomokazu sneering at people (which isn't really a spoiler).

Trust me. You're really not missing anything. The dub for Zero was really good, but that's definitely not the case with UBW.
I actually stopped watching it after two or three episodes.

Hmm Aniplex has no standard edition so I can understand, them saying all territories must have a CE but our £60 set is better than the US' £120 one.

Except, from what Andrew Partridge has said, they don't seem too bothered, they just enforce a huge holdback clause on them. Based on the fact the Kill la Kill DVD Part 3 set is now OOP, and AL are in the process of are asking for permission to do a reprint, it sounds like they may be limited in the quantity they can produce though.

Jerome is clearly fed up with Aniplex after the likes of SAO (multiple volumes, no complete collection in sight, being forced to change covers partway through the run etc...)
