UK Anime Distributor MVM Entertainment Discussion Thread

Re: [UK Anime Distributor] MVM Entertainment Discussion Thre

A Lull In the Sea please :)

I see the NISA release, but it's more than I'd want to pay for this series.
Hopefully they can do the same as with Toradora and do a decently priced amaray over here. Of course they have to license it first.

Re: [UK Anime Distributor] MVM Entertainment Discussion Thre

I wonder if this explains the Samurai Champloo situation too.

Re: [UK Anime Distributor] MVM Entertainment Discussion Thre

Definitely supporting MVM with this. Hopefully it means similar with future NISA releases being "shared" with MVM.
Limited to 1,000 too. Shall be getting my pre-order in as soon as I can.

Re: [UK Anime Distributor] MVM Entertainment Discussion Thre

Wow, I'm quite shocked - not that they're releasing it - but that they're going for the full works limited set. Those 1000 copies are going to go *fast* I reckon. I suppose this way they can charge more for it - but I'll definitely be grabbing a copy, it's too good to pass up on.

Re: [UK Anime Distributor] MVM Entertainment Discussion Thre

Sounds like they're pulling out all the stops.

Added to my list....:D

Re: [UK Anime Distributor] MVM Entertainment Discussion Thre

Thanks MVM! I'm glad the logo crept onto the art as I can buy the local version now and not backstab you unintentionally ^^;;

This is really good news and something I hope works for more special titles in future. The English-speaking regions collaborating to put together a version of the show that they probably couldn't have made individually, and making it available for all of us. Brilliant.

HOLY ****! Definite buy for me now for the UK release.

I hope the success that AL is seeing with their Collectors and Ultimate Editions make companies realise there is a market their and their is demand. If somehow MVM could start being a distributor for NISA products here in the UK then I would buy everything just out of principal!

Hopefully it's about the same RRP as the TTGL Ultimate Edition so that I can get it for around £90.

Re: [UK Anime Distributor] MVM Entertainment Discussion Thre

I have already pre-ordered the set from RightStuf, but i'll be keeping an eye on the UK release to see if there's a difference in price and/or if there's a BBFC logo on the box!

I'm fairly certain that NISA could have made this set on their own when looking back at releases like the Toradora Blu-ray Premium set and the Love Live! Concert Edition set.

But still, it's a very interesting prospect that English-speaking regions could share costs to allow special editions of anime in the UK. The US sees cool collector-oriented sets on a monthly basis while there's only one distributor in the UK delivering the same, so i'm definitely all for this, especially for NIS America shows \(^▽^)/!!

Price will be higher due to VAT and their will be a BBFC logo somewhere (hopefully a sticker). That being said though, i'll be supporting MVM with this even if it works out slightly more expensive.

Indeed they could, but would they have? It's not got as much of a devoted fan base as the other examples (and even Toradora took two attempts while they were finding their feet in the market). I certainly wouldn't have been sad to see NagiAsu get a normal (perfectly good) NISA LE release rather than this deluxe version, but to get the full works on a show like this feels like an amazing treat!

Completely agree that NIS America shows are great choices for this kind of arrangement. I was amazed how addictive it was when I watched the streaming version each week after almost writing it off at the beginning; like Anime Limited it feels like they deliberately go for interesting titles which deserve extra love.

MVM are tackling the challenge of importation in very interesting ways. I think they said they were probably not going to make a regular thing of LEs back when Fate/Zero had its release but I sure hope the demand surpasses their expectations :D

(Also hoping the BBFC logo will be on an obi or sticker or something. Preferably an obi. If they want to run a Kickstarter to cover the costs of printing 1,000 obi to avoid a messy box I will cheerfully fund most of it myself.)

Re: [UK Anime Distributor] MVM Entertainment Discussion Thre

I'm really hoping the title does great for MVM as I imagine any future co-releases with NISA will be based on sales figures for Lull In The Sea.

They have an order from me though, no doubt about it.

EDIT: I'm wondering about how it all works. Is it a shared print run with NISA? as in NISA are branching out into the UK market with MVM as a partner/distributor?

Re: [UK Anime Distributor] MVM Entertainment Discussion Thre

I had always thought that I wouldn't bother buying this series if it ever got a uk release but now I'm tempted simply because of this fancy boxset. I hated the second half of the series, but the artbook and soundtrack are both very interesting to me so I might just buy it anyway. I'll decide closer to the release date when the price is known.

Just wondering if you think we will ever get a monogatari second season complete collection in a couple of years?

I hope so. I know I'm probably going to wait for a while just in case they do. Buying the 5 separate volumes for about £15-£20 a piece on Blu Ray is far too steep for me IMO.

Re: [UK Anime Distributor] MVM Entertainment Discussion Thre

Yeah same, I finally broke and started watching the rest (the show looked so nice on the blu rays I won for free...)

It is possible - If Australia and America do a set, then yes we will. But it's all down to Aniplex Japan and I don't think it'll be happening anytime soon.

Ah great, I'll wait a bit then. Thanks for the response.
