I'm somewhat worried... Is more than half of our board really into sexually abusing kids?
Loli and Shota is about underage/prepubescents being in a relationship with someone older. Loli is taken from a film a couple of years ago in which there was a promiscuous kid called Lolita who fancied her uncle or something. Loli and Shota is practically a lighter version of child porn. You realise this is... erm... -wrong-, right?
Realise what you're saying.

Just saying, but the majority of us who've posted about that have said that we're against it, myself included. I agree its wrong and as said, i don't quite understand why people are willing to watch such a thing.
Just got really worried after reading consecutive, 'watch what you want, it's your preference - loli/shota is okay~'. posts...

WEVE GONE OFF TOPIC >_<

I hope so :?

It's not that off topic, it just went from "is it ok for person of type x to like anime of type y" to "is it ok for anyone to like anime of type z"?

If there's more to say on the boy/girl thing please mention it and we can go back to that, I thought it was mostly covered.

We have pritty much covered the subject like. End result being that you can watch what ever you want whatever gender the anime may be based at. People have made that clear however obviously it brought up other conversations which led away from the main topic. But that's to be expected given some of the thoughts given by the posts.
Sorry for stating the obviouse but we can only start repeating ourselves from hear on. Unless of course anyone wishes to repeat what has already been said.

@ Voddas: nooooo going over things again and again and again and again and again and again and again Is monotonous....dull.....boring....annoying.

Rob...your new so you wont really know how things tend to go, but EVERY topic goes off the beat and track at one point...its not a bad thing, its a good because from one thread going onto another similar topic another thread will be born,

So chill and relax. its normal practice here.

Wrong attitude. If you dont like the direction your own thread is going then redirect it. Pick some feedback thats on topic and challenge it, question it, agree with it. Advance the discussion in the direction you want to take it.

It's almost like there are things you want to talk about but want other people to bring up first. Meanwhile all we're going to do is bounce thoughts off each other randomly inbetween answering your first question.

Um the original topic was "is it ok for a BOY to like GIRLY anime" the topic was supposed to be on these specific factors but it grew into this other debate

I'm not trying to be mean and I'm not trying to scold anyone for it........I'd just like to go back onto it's original topic.

That's forums for ya. It used to infuriate me but you have to learn to go with the flow. As for your original question, the answer so far seems to be a resounding yes.

Uh ok...well in my opinion it's...still ok! Let's all agree with one another over and over like groundhog day :)

Like Tin man said, take matters to your hands =) AUKN member in general have a tendency to go off topic more than often (yeah, I'm a big offender myself, sue me xD )

On the other hand, I think that if you had got a poll you could get the answers you want as well as allowing others to wander ...

A thread is like a conversation. If you can't talk about other related things, the conversation becomes stagnant. Simple as.
I agree
me too - also, people here have a tendency to be friendlier

For me, the most interesting topic inside this, uh, topic was actually that of moe supposedly being intrinsically linked with "sexualised minors". I can't remember who wrote it first; I appologise for not trawling through the past seven pages to source it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but moe to me, as a style much less a genre, has been all about embodying "cute" in anime artwork. The list of standard moe "features" posted earlier seems to be nothing more than a concoction of tried-and-tested elements assembled together with the sole intent of instilling a quiet "d'awr" into the viewer.

I liked Paul's words on the relative moral corruptness of most any genre/style of anime, yet as far as things go, I see moe anime characters to be fairly low down on that scale. If Cardcaptor Sakura is moe, I'd certainly feel a damn sight more corrupt watching something like Elfen Lied.

Moe -can- be sexualised but, unless I'm just terribly confused, that's essentially the essence of lolicon. In other words, taking that "cute" adoration and developing it rather a few steps too far.

I'm not a fan of lolicon, but I will not denounce it. I think it'd all do us some good to, every once in a while at least, remind ourselves that anime is anime, and not even mildly comparable to real life atrocities which it may depict.

BACK TO THE TOPIC, GUYS....

I think it's more than okay for a boy to like girly anime. I'm a soft blanket when it comes to my taste in anime; give me romance and drama over ninjas and mecha any day of your lunar calendar, for sure. I guess it must be something to do with the fact that, being male and all, watching males do male things gets very boring very quickly.

Have one thing to say Rob...Stop moaning that the topics change, like its been said to you over and over again that all topics go off track when we've discussed them, there's only so much that people can say on a subject.

You mean the Stanley Kubrick film adaptation of the novel, I haven't read the novel but the film certainly isn't an endorsement of paedophilia, addressing a subject matter isn't the samer as supporting it, though you could argue they can be problematic, films with an anti-war message that rely upon the action and drama of war for example. You can't do any of that without seeing the film in question though...

I wasn't saying that it was endorsing it. Only that the term is taken from it and the ideal of a minor with sexual desires for older men.

Just explaining where the term came from and it's meaning, although now diverted down such an unsavory route.

I would very much like to watch the film...
