First anime series i watched was Devil May Cry. I was looking for another series that contained characters with swords bigger than them. That is where i came across Bleach

Was hooked on Bleach so much that i ended up watching all the episodes up to 137 in less than two weeks. After that i tried out alot of different anime and it went on from there!

Bleach was the main series that peaked my interest in Anime

I blame SuperPlay. It was a seriously good magazine that and probably quite ahead of its time, pairing up anime and game coverage the way they did. Wil Overton is still my hero.

Started off young, without even knowing what anime was, enjoying Battle of the Planets, Ulysses 31, Mysterious Cities of Gold, Dogtanian and Willy Fog. Then I became a teenager, and BBC2 had this teen slot which used to show lots of MTV stuff, among it Aeon Flux. Loved that. Then one night, BBC2 showed Akira, and then a couple of weeks later, The Wings of Honneamise. This was when I learned what anime was. Then came Channel 4's Late Licence back in 1994 or 95. Devil Man, Cyber City, Legend of The Four Kings and I was hooked, and buying Manga Video within weeks. Contrary to popular belief, Channel 4 never showed Legend of the Overfiend, but it was on cable/satellite.

But then the first bust happened, and I fell out of love with anime, and forgot all about it. Then back in 2002 or 3, I got to watch some Dragonball, thought it was meh, some Transformers Armada, which was crap, some Vampire Princess Miyu, which was 'hold on a minute' and then finally some Love Hina, and I'm hooked again and have been ever since.

First got into anime when I saw Akira on BBC2 early 1990s. Followed that by watching The Wings of Honnêamise also on BBC2.

From there it was the late night anime season on Channel 4 & Porco Rosso on one of Sky's movie channels.

TH craptastic version Cardcaptor Sakura that wasn't know as Cardcaptor Sakura and left out half of the plot and al that stuff that make Offcom squirm.

I saw the ending to what would become my favourite anime whilst dwelling within the bedroom of a tall man from Bristol.

(He went on to find a discarded television in a skip, and proceeded to watch the European cup without paying a licence.)

When I became a man, I became a fan naturally. Urotsukidouji showed me the way, and then I discovered Rapeman. Then, after watching the last episode of Berserk, I could no longer stay away from anime. In all of those anime, women were treated as they should be outside of the kitchen area, and that's what I love about anime.

No, not really.

As a brat, I loved JRPGs, buying as many as I could. Star Ocean 2 was a favourite of mine and, sometime after getting on the net during my early teens, I discovered the existence of 'Star Ocean EX'. Even as an idiotic kid, I thought it was a bit ****.

Shortly after that, having not been fully put off anime by seeing one of the many ****** shows out there, I had a look to see if there was another JRPG out there, and I happened across .hack//SIGN. Many people rate it lowly for its pacing, but back then I thought it was the best animated series ever, and I still have a lot of love for it now--the music sees to that!

So, long story short: Star Ocean EX was my first anime, but .hack//SIGN got me into it. If not for .hack//SIGN, I probably would've stayed well away.

I've been a fan of Japanese creations for as long as I can remember. My JRPG love switched to anime love as I aged, and now I've started leaning towards adult manga.

Either way TV option, but officially in the mid 90's (Sailor Moon and then Robotech(Macross), I didn't know I was watching anime when I was before then so it dosn't count, but I liked it. :p

Spirited Away was featured in a end of year round-up of the only issue of a Movie magazine I've ever read. It looked absolutely beautiful and it was. That and the internet. If you're young and into forums, Anime is pretty conspicuous.

Honestly though, before Ghibli, I consciously avoided it all and probably should have continued to.

Oh, I did actually read it (clicked on "quote"), I just thought I would playfully suggest that we do something to hide Aion's ramblings from the eyes of the public.

i first saw DBZ during childhood, but that ddin't actually get me into anime, it wasn't until about 2005/6 that i got into anime via Neon Genesis Evangelion, because i saw an AMV on Google Video, a rather good one might i add, and it just continued from there

this is the AMV in question

I guess my first animé was Pokemon and Digimon but they didn't get me into animé...I think my first entry was cgi anime films. I think my first was either Appleseed or FInal Fantasy Advent Children, which I picked up from my local rental place.

After that I was more interested and I found myself starting to watch Genshiken, which hooked me because it was a slice of life story which was a godd way to start and really got into it, then I found Trigun and my love affair started

Introduced to it by a friend, can't say by what means in polite society (and no it wasn't anime porn).
