Its different because its the same gender. Period. Sure we can all go "Why SHOULD it be different". Indeed, why. But it is. Plus a girl being chatted up by a guy is normal as hetrosexual is alot more common than homosexual, therefore im going to call it the 'normal'. When being chatted up by the same sex, it is 'not normal' if you are not homosexual, therefore you will be more uncomfy with it, as there is a high chance you will not know what to do. Also the way many gay people are going at the moment, if you turn them down to quickly or even slightly offend them, they will call you homophobic. Its sad, but true.
It bugs me when weird guys chat me up just as much as if it was a weird girl. And what if I was a lesbian? Shouldn't I have the right to be insulted by presumptuous men coming on to me?
Normal it may be, but I still don't like it so I simply avoid the places where that kind of guy is likely to be found. I don't see turning down a member of the same sex coming onto you as any different in technique to turning down a standard horny guy...
If they call you homophobic for politely saying no, it may be time to call that individual a hypocrite for not respecting your sexual preferences and move off. But it's not fair to assume the majority of homosexuals are in that camp.
