General News/Current Affairs Thread

My question: What are people actually objecting to? ... or the fact that for some inexplicable reason there's a massive industry out there paying people to secretly bless food without telling anyone?
This is my favorite angle to look at it from, because it makes it feel like something out of a "comedy" episode of The X-Files.

Time to resurrect this thread, because I have opinions that Facebook probably wouldn't like.

Is it just me, or is it particularly macabre how fixated the media are on what's happening to the bodies after this incident? I don't recall being fed a blow-by-blow account of how they collected and stored the remains of the dead after any other air crash / terrorist attack.

Almost like they're deliberately trying to draw some rather disturbing parallels by highlighting the use of trains in connection with mass killing in Eastern Europe.

I was also repulsed by pictures of friends of the deceased being hounded by journalists on Twitter and reporters on the scene going through the luggage of the passengers.

Honestly, with things like the current paedophile scandal here, the **** with Israel (that isn't anything new sadly) and this Malaysian airline mess, I can't help but agree with Ultron....

Where Israel/Palestine is concerned I think I now favour the one state solution.

See, as an internationalist with a strong dislike for all kinds of nationalism, it's kind of irrelevant to me whether Israel should or shouldn't exist or not. My position is that people should be able to live wherever the hell they like. Rip up the borders, tear down the tariffs and declare everyone a citizen of the world who can take their labour wherever they want.

The real problem is those who don't want to live in peace with others, which is mainly certain powerful factions within both the Palestinian and Israeli authorities who stir up hatred among their populations. There will be no peace until those people are removed from power, and as far as I'm concerned this is a much better case for international intervention to do just that than any of the recent wars we've been involved in.

Israel-Palestine, where Jews and Arabs live together in harmony under an international sword of Damocles which will drop on both sides equally if they don't. If people behave like petty squabbling children they don't deserve to be treated any better.

The Arabs are the problem here.

There the ones who think like there the superior race.
They started the slave trade.
There the ones funding Isis to kill the shia......which is a branch of Islam......where the Arabs are Sunni and believe there the real islam.

I say let them fight and hope they kill each other.

Humans are selfish pricks anyways

You can't blame an entire section of the population for a few terrible people in it (which every single race / gender / eye / hair colour has). The people who think they can claim moral superiority just because of a chance of birth are idiots yes, but to claim all people of one race think alike is a horribly racist sentiment af. Do you know them all? All Arabs? Do you even know one, for that matter?

I'm talking about the extremists, the racists, the ones who believe there the master race.

I'm not a bigot, far from it......I just hate everyone equally, humans in General...........not you guys tho I love you guys

Well if that's the case you might wanna think about how you phrase such posts in future, because a statement like "the Arabs are the problem" does not really make that clear at all. It just makes you sound like a racist.

That, however, is pretty fair.

Israel should just have never existed in the first place.

Why?

After the end of world war 2, partly due to the horrors inflicted upon the Jews at the hands of the nazis, the Jews were given territory in Palestine. Backed by the financial and military clout of the USA, their ancient claim to the territory was endorsed. The Jews had not occupied the territory for night on 2500 years and in fact, the only real claims to it comes from the likes of the Torah and the old testament. Archaeological evidence does not back up the claim that Israel was a large kingdom and only suggests a small tribe may have occupied the area. Jersualem and the surrounding territory has been occupied by countless different peoples over the centuries egyptians, Romans, arabs, christians) so as such, the notion of a kingdom of israel is not one many actually support.

Since gaining some territory on the back of WW2, Israel have performed pretty much massive land grabs taking territory from the Palestinians, Jordanians, Egyptians and ridiculously gotten away with it. Jerusalem itself is not internationally recognised as the capital of Israel as it is still seen as the administrative capital of Palestine which has been occupied by an invading force..

Many people suggest that Jewish individuals hold massive sway over things like the world economy, politics, entertainment industry, the media etc and one of the many reasons that the holocaust was enacted by Hitler was due to his belief that the Jews held too much sway with regards to the economy in Germany and they could not be trusted. When you look at the backing that the USA has given to Israel and the Jews since it's inception, it is easy to see why some believe the US government to be puppets to Jewish masters.

At the end of the day though, what is going on in Israel and Palestine is horrendous, and the Israeli government need to be held accountable for the atrocities they are committing. In the cold light of day it is very much a strong and wealthy army taking on a vagabond group in this case, and the Palestinians will more than likely be crushed considerably. It is rather concerning that the USA in particular have not come out to criticise what the Israelis have done and are just pushing for a ceasefire.

Re: General Nithews/Current Affairs Thread

Only cause there jewish doesn't mean there in control of everything......why hate Jews?

I don't have a problem with Jews

I do not hate Jews, I am merely trying to inform you as to why some do not believe the state of Israel should exist in the first place by giving you some historical context to the situation.

I think it's more how it illustrates (potentially) the division of responsibility for the situation, and any perceived attempts to interfere with the process of clearing up the situation.
