Games you gave up on

.hack//infection annoyed me. It said it came with origianl japanese cast. I thought great. Then it tells you you've got to complete the game first. I just put it back in its box and took it back to the store. Plus I found it boring.

You can change the voices to Japanese from the start in the PAL version. The manual says you need to finish it since they never changed it from the US version, where you do need to finish the game

You can I couldn't. How did you do it?

It's in the options menu. I think they should have left it as an unlockable feature since it would give you a reason to play the game from the beginning again (I already did but that was because I made a stupid mistake  )

In the version I had it didn't have that option in the options menu. Oh well no point crying about it. Wasn't that good a game anyway.

I should really finish Final Fantasy 6 sometime...
Black and White I gave up on after the fourth (I think) level.
Sonic Adventure I gave up on after that stupid fight with Robotnik where you have to jump on the spinning blade things in order to get to him- I either hit the blades and died, or fell into the chasm and died. Screw that.

I gave up on Neverwinter Nights. The fact that it wouldn't run properly on my laptop was a bit of a downer, but mainly I quit because it was nowhere near as interesting as Baldur's Gate 2.

I very rarely gave up on games but I'm a busy man now I'm "older" but I confess I through in the towel with Dragon Quest VIII: The Journey of the Cursed King.

It wasn't becauuse it was difficult it was because Onimusha 4: Dawn of Dreams came along and I have a bit of a thing for those.

Wobbly knees and all that...

Recently i gave up on Metal Gear Acid 1&2...i love the MG series but it got a bit boring, and frankly...the PSP is boring.
i'm just waiting for the Wii and some good DS games to bring me back into gaming more.

My 3 biggest games I gave up on are:

Final Fantasy X-2 - had to give up after re-starting it once due to missing the ultimate transformation add ons and then getting to the end I hit save and at the same time turned my ps2 off, needless to say save file was corrupted and I never bothered to restart it again after that.

Final Fantasy IX - Just got bored with the characters and story one of the weakest fantasy's in my opinion

Doom 3 - Just got bored of it dark tunnel after dark tunnel made it to hell but just got bored and was constantly thinking, is it over yet?

I gave up on Sonic adventure 2.. i finished it before but now i cant seem to finish it >.< im losing my touch :O
Black and white ... so much clicking !
Final fantasy 8 - My fave ff but i did get lost and then i just gave up i will probs play it again in another few yrs
Final Fantasy 10-2 - got frustrated with one level!

and i think thats all!

Mostly retro for me:

Space Ace (Snes): The game started, a boss appeared, I beat him easily, the level started scrolling, I was forced up against a cavern I had to cross, I couldn't get across and died. This was repeated about 10 times before I put the game back on my shelf and left it to gather dust.

Spider-Man (Master System): Electro's level (level 3 or 4) I couldn't even get started on so I was forced to give up. Everytime the level started I would get electrocuted and die. Like Space Ace (^^) I tried everything to stop myself from dying but nothing seemed to work. Stupid game developers!!!

Tekken 3 (PS1): Clunky, slow, and too many moves to memorise. Not as fun or accessible as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.

Metal Gear Solid (PS1): Excellent, amazing game! But I have no patience for stealth :( It's one I'll probably go back to.

Pikmin 2 (GameCube): I hate those Pikmin! And the lousy camera! And the small levels! But mostly I hate the way the Pikmin are so weak. I had another go at it a month ago but gave up again when 30 out of 50 of my Pikmin were slaughtered taking down one medium sized insect. Gah! I hate those Pikmin!

Behold the entire list of games I own but have never completed!

[GBA]
Columns Crown (can you complete Columns? certainly not this horrid dull version anyway.)
* Denki Blocks (This gets fiendish towards the end)
* Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (It's monster repetative, I lost my way...)
* Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age (One of my newest games, lost steam early.)
* Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island (goddamn you last boss that I can't wrap my head around!)

[Master System II]
Cool Spot (Or perhaps it's been so long and I really did complete it?)

[Mega Drive II]
* Dynamite Headdy (Actually, I completed this using an Emulator and Save-States, but I'm confident that you have to be some kind of Ninja to complete it properly).
Mega Bomberman (Nasty last level :O )
Theme Park (I'm dubious as to whether you can "complete" it. Nevertheless, tedious and repeatative.)
X-Men 2 (This game was too freaking hard for me. Plus it's not like I like the X-Men anyway :p)

[PC]
Age of Empires (Repeatative, Tedious).
Black & White (The most needlessly over-hyped game in existance. There are some great things to do, but actually playing and completing this game is extremely hard because... well, it's utter shite.)
Blade Runner (crappy game bundled with my DVD drive 8 years ago)
Civilization II (Can you "complete" this game anyway?)
Doom III: Resurrection of Evil (What kind of person completes Doom III and goes back for more? I must be a masochist).
Incoming: Subversion (obscure expansion to Graphics Card shifting game with a showstopping bug that ensured it was incompleteable)
* Settlers II - Gold Edition, The (Couldn't work with the last mission. The reds attacked you, and you couldn't retaliate unless you wanted the Yellows to attack you as well!)
Theme Hospital (I got just about far enough to see all it had to offer though)
* Thief: The Dark Project (2nd level.)
* Thief II: The Metal Age (About 3/4s through)
* Thief III: Deadly Shadows (2nd level. I like the Thief games, but something just stops me from playing for all that long. Usually my instinct to cut nasty people into chunks.)

[PS1]
Final Fantasy Origins (1 and 2) (Nostalgia is no fun when you weren't there in the first place)
* Final Fantasy Anthology (European Edition - 4 and 5) (I'm quite near the end on these, but I stalled on completing them because I wanted to be a high enough level to beat everything - and can't be bothered to level up!)
* Final Fantasy VI (6) (I love this game but don't even know where to start now I have the airship again! blinded by too many sidequests :p)
Metal Gear Solid: Special Missions (anyone who completes this has too much time on their hands)
* SaGa Frontier 2 (Think I got stuck doing too many sidequests. Or dying. I liked this game loads though :) )
* Threads of Fate (Not sure why I haven't completed Mint's quest yet. It's a fun little game, I guess I just got tired of disc-swapping :p)
* Vagrant Story (awesome game, I probably got stuck somewhere though :p)

[PS2]
Kingdom Hearts (I either got bored with the game itself, or got my classic case of "I want to do all this but, I can't be bothered so i'm going to quit and wait until I can be")
Grandia II (Horrid, horrid game.)
* Metal Gear Soild 3: Snake Eater (Great game, I just ran out of time for games recently)

For the record though, I have still completed an impressive number of games that were worth completing. I'm going to star every game on this list I would like to one day complete because they're worth doing it :)

I think I have ADD or something cause I get bored and lose interest fast with anything, thats why Ive got some many games uncompleted.

FFX-2 - I restarted this cause I missed a dress sphere, this just got bored, the girly theme annoyed me and the fact to get it 100% complete you have to randomly press X at cut scenes.

GTA: San Andreas - Just got bored at the 3rd part of the city.

Prince of Persia: The Two Thones - Just got bored of this too.

Timesplitters 2 - FPS game on the PS2 = Bad.

Neverwinter Nights - Couldnt get into it.

Half Life 2 - Got stuck at a bridge :s.

Metal Gear Solid 3 - Gave up on the last Boss.

Age of Empires 1; Age of Kings: Conqurors; Age of Empires 3; Red Alert 2; Civ 4; Rise of Nations - Maybe more RTS games, I just play skirmishes on them, build a kickass base and annialate them computer players :D.

Most games other than World of Warcraft. I mean i pay enough for it monthly not to play it!

Ive tried to play other games, but i just get bored of most games i buy very quickly. Unless its really rewarding and something different to anything else.

Final Fantasy VIII

The storyline and character design was excellent in my opinion, the game seemed like something I would love but the Junction system just ruined the entire experience for me. I have restarted the game over eight times and gotten bored every time I get around disc two or three.

PC

Elder Scrolls 3- Morrowind - There are free roam games....and there are "Where am I going now?" Games...

PS1

FFVII - Wasn't mine and I had to give it back...then I grew up to become a Sony Hater...so I refused to re-buy a PS1....*cough*

FFVIII - PS1 Broke, as previously stated (FVIII Best FF ever!)

XBOX

Sonic Heroes - I HATE this game...it's just not a sonic game...so I couldn't be bothered to finish it come to think of it...I didn't really start it...

Jade Empire - I got as far as "The Twist" and then decided that the battle system was much to tedious...

That's all I can think of at the mo...I'm pretty good when it comes to completing games...heh

Disgaea own'd in the beginning... it was cool after a while... and just boring after a while for me lol

hmmmmm I never really gave up on shenmue, I just need time to play the game

I don't give up on games very often, but the last game I gave up on was Atelier Iris. It suddenly had a steep rise in difficulty, and with me having my Higher exams (kinda Scottish A-Levels), I couldn't be bothered.

.hack

omg i loved that game but jesus it was lonnnng! i was really good at it too. and believe me thats a big thing for me cause the type of game im good at is beat'em'up!

got to the end of the second one and gave up...
