Currently obsessed with Tribe Nine.

I have dropped both Honkai Star Rail and ZZZ for this.
Looking at that art style I'm guessing this is from the Danganronpa creators - is it along a similar vein but gacha? I dread to ask as I can't add another one after HBR.

I am getting a bit fed up with HSR's powercreep, all the characters you spend ages building up to think you have a solid roster, only for new characters to induce a new meta and suddenly all your leveling up is for naught. Storyline is still good so I'm continuing with it for now.

Yea it's from the same team behind Danganronpa and yeah it's a gacha. Amazing story, game play and art. It's an action RPG like ZZZ but actually challenging. Fun gameplay loop as well and it doesn't have a stamina system either so you can play for as long or as little as you want without being tied down to routine. It launched a few weeks ago and has already become my main live service game replacing everything else I log into.

But if you feel overwhelmed with what you already have then yeah just enjoy the games you like, entertainment shouldn't be a chore. Tbh I haven't played Heaven Burns Red in a while, unfortunately I fell off as I lost motivation to grind the characters. I absolutely agree that HSR power creep is ridiculous, and is the biggest factor for me quitting which in a way feels weird as that was probably my longest running live service style game I have stuck with lol. It feels really bad though when your premium characters that cost money (whether you spend or not) can't even clear the content.

I was getting increasingly worried reading that until I got to the action RPG bit: if it's not turn based then I can resist the temptation! I did love the Danganronpa games though, so if there is a console version I would definitely get that and not be tempted by the gacha-iness... Or so I hope anyway!

I do love the 3 gachas I'm playing now but with my ocd-esque nature and fomo, I become a bit obsessive with these, but still enjoying them otherwise it definitely wouldn't be worth the time, especially as they're still great stress relief!

HBR has a solid dramatic storyline and great humour, so good fun for Jun Maeda fans and I'm unsurprisingly engrossed in it. Characters are quite likeable and the grind is nowhere near as bad as the HSR rng-insane multi-variable grind, and surprise surprise even the older characters that aren't super premium are very functional and can clear end game content (not to mention the game loves throwing 5*/SS characters at players regularly🥳). HSR just disrespects it's own characters making their premium ones nigh irrelevant for end game content, exactly like you said whether you've paid for them or not. The amount of grind required to level them fully is just salt on the wound. I really hope the rumoured levelling up for older characters brings them a lot closer to the newer releases...

Ooh I might go back to HBR eventually in that case. I can't see myself returning to Honkai at all currently and FGO has become more of a side game now for me. ZZZ is going to depend on my mood when the new patch drops I guess.

Yeah Tribe Nine is action RPG so I would avoid it if you aren't a fan. It's built with PC in mind though it's also on mobile (mobile version isn't optimized though, and really needs a controller to play comfortably). It has a decent challenge to it's combat and takes a few elements from the Souls series like seeing (and laughing at) all the dead players scattered around the map lol.

My thoughts exactly, I do enjoy action RPGs but only on the consoles with a good controller - they're not optimized for playing on phones and tablets and seeing as I mostly play on my phone nowadays, that rules them out.

I'm still enjoying FGO, the lostbelt 7 story was pretty good and they still churn out interesting events, but most importantly fun characters (Huyan Zhuo was hilarious in the last Halloween😂) with good adaptations of their historical backstories. Let me know what you make of HBR if you go back, as I'm probably still biased as a Maeda fan heh.
