Its 100% a Sony decision. Can't see any benefit in this for Funimation themselves unless home video sales of CR properties are lower than projected.

Pretty sure Funimation actually made them though.

Wasn't the Rokka English dub produced by CR?

They didn't stream them though, most went to Funimation, probably a part of their deal.

I'm saying they should commission them exclusively for themselves, I mean they're willing to experiment in original animation right now which can't he cheap.

Not in English, they've produced them in other languages. I'm pretty sure it must have been due to the Funimation deal.

Nope. Ponycan USA produced the English Dub for Rokka. Crunchyroll streamed the subbed version.

You sure? Ponycan USAs blurays didn't have the English dub on them, ALs was the first release with the dub.

It was a joint commission by Anime Limited and Crunchyroll. Don't believe it was streamed anywhere, at least at the time.

Again, their streaming dub library is all old content, if they want to expand they need to actually broadcast dub them or at least debut them themselves.
