I now see why no-one was brave enough to bring Ganku to the UK. That's a shocking DVD sales record, and I can't see Geneon's sales record being much better...

Well, Japan is a market for collectors due to the high price of anime DVDs, and the Japanese like their women young. Put those together and it isn't too hard to understand why a **** loli anime sold so well.

It's still fairly surprising that one of the best anime series ever sold so poorly. Don't Japanese anime fans buy anything that doesn't involve children, boobs, tentacle and rape (I really need to move to Japan)?

well, maybe the otaku are simply only interested in loli as a replacement for real women (-_-)!
it doesn't surprise me though. It's sad, but I wonder how big names sell out there (ie. ghibli, satoshi kon, pokemon...)

Well then, this is majorly screwed. Bye bye Soul Eater. What Lance said on ANN is interesting, though:

Last of the countdown.

Who's to say we don't have another countdown real soon afterwords? It's not like we stop acquiring shows.

I have not got Gungrave yet so I would be interested at the right price.

I wonder if we are going to get a full list of license rescues, and then whilst everyone is on a downer at Funi they suddenly pull out a list of all the new shows we want.

Then why bother with this count down? Why not just announce them as then normally do? It just got out hopes up for nothing. Not going to rush out and buy any of these (unless 10 is spectacular).

I've got to be honest: Funimation have built this up a lot and then provided a pathetic list. They don't even hold the licenses to the Geneon titles - they simply sell the DVDs for Geneon in repackaged sets. Funimation's name isn't even going to be on the soon to be released sets.

It's great that Gankutsuou (my #1) and Gungrave (my old #1) are getting re-released in America, but people want new anime and not a a lot of old stuff repackaged. Where are the sequel series such as Hell Girl 2, Shana 2, When They Cry 2? Where's Soul Eater? Where's Bokurano?

Funimation has too much to handle as it is for new licenses of their own, lets worry about them getting the stuff that NEEDS to be saved first and let the rubbish burn.

They can get half of this older stuff out a lot quicker than other releases. With Soul Eater and Eva, they'll need to get dubbing crew and packaging (some of which is already done with these Geneon releases)... I assume this is the reason for these rescues.

Still, UGH... I was expecting something, and I can't help but wonder if FUNi were too. I don't think New Show A Go-Go is over yet!

Oh, and:

According to my watch December 31st lasts 24 hours.

New Year's Eve is not over.

For you AUKN-only readers.

Belated cheer for Slayers - I'll be grabbing that the moment it's available. Need to be sold on Nabari No Ou and have/don't want the rest but if stuff like Champloo and Gungrave can drum up some cash they can invest in more licenses and rescue classy shows like Gankutsuou as things grow then I can't complain.

Oh and I'll inevitably be getting Eva 1.0, of course. Saw it in the cinema though so that's less exciting than new stuff.

I'm looking forward to Slayers revolution, that will be released in 2010 =(

I believe I've got almost everything else worth, but gungrave, that I'll be picking up sometime soon.
