Full Metal Panic Discussion

I have seen all three series of FMP and I enjoyed all three series and is one of my favourite anime series ever :D

My favourite characters has to be Kaname and Sousuke as they have really made me laugh each episode

I just loved every episode of FMP, but the ones I thought were the best where:

A Cat and a Kitten's Rock & Roll - Where Tessa and Melissa have an AS dual

Is Narashino Burning - Military base festival where they're having AS fights - Same as BlackWolf I think.

and I can't remember the name of the last one or what series it was out of.. it's where they're going for a school trip to a hot spring and they're all trying to peek into the girls hot spring and Sousuke has basically put traps everywhere

Just watched a couple more episodes of this now, and i'm on episode 10 and seriously. This show is really good. It's by no means a masterpiece but, heck, i've seen alot worse shows and enjoyed them. Everything is done really well here. I'm wondering where the stories going for the last 14 epiosdes though.

FMP has got to be one of the more entertaining anime's I've seen.. it can be really funny at times, especially FUMOFFU!, and still keeps a good storyline going.

Love me a bit of FMP, definitely one of my favorite animes. IMO Fumoffu>FMP>TSR ...TSR did piss me off a bit...

Why did you rate TSR lowest, if you mind me asking? It had the greatest amount of character development between the three series and it approached its every intensifying storyline very well. I don't see how its worse(in my opinion, i only had one gripe, and that was the assassins), unless you thought FMP was primarily comedy, which is completely near enough gone after "A Dancing Very Merry Christmas" novel. I'm not including the short-story light novels, as they tend to be all the small stories around the main story.

Well, I was watching it first and foremost for the comedy, but thats not to say I wasn't enjoying the serious sides aswell. The thing that annoyed me about TSR is how Sousuke sort of developed his own mind about things, really I suppose I should have been happy about that. I think it is the fact that I had it set in my mind that he is and always was gonna be military and mission first, before all else. Then TSR comes along and, well... by the end I was really quite annoyed by some of his actions for some reason, lol. The only redeeming thing at the end for me, which really made it worth watching again, was, if I remember correctly, the great big punch in the face that Kaname gives him for NOT doing his mission, or something...I forget, but I remember it really making my day:p I was quite happy with the serious action/drama sides of the first series and the highly minimal amount of the second, I just didn't like that aspect of the drama side in TSR, the rest of TSR was great though:D

I"ve asked this already; but forgot. When I finish FMP, do I move on to TSR or FUMOFFU??

And i'm now on episode 17 on FMP, and its really great. 15 and 16 gave a lot of insight into Souske's past, and we're finally seeing a much darker side to him. (I put that in Spoiler tags just incase. Nothing plot related though).

you move onto FUMOFFU then TSR :p and then you only choice to get more is to get the light novels

Fumoffu was the next to be animated, but you could go straight to TSR as that series is a direct continuation of the first.

Regarding megagold's post, Sosuke's character development was one of the reasons I enjoyed TSR a lot more than the first series.

I'll probably find FMP the weakest for this reason. Having to mix Comedy episodes and Action, with all the character developments etc. is hard in just 24 episodes. I'll probably find it goes;

TSR > FUMOFFU > FMP

That's on the assumption FUMOFFO isn't packed with Romance...

from what i can tell, early signs point to no

There's a teeny bit of romance but mostly it's about the funny.

Should be okay then.

The only th ing I dislike so far about FMP are the mecha's. They aren't too creative. I just don't get on with em too well I guess.

I loved the Code Geass mecha's on the other hand...

I really like the restrained design for the AS's. They look functional, more believable as a military vehicle than some absurd death toy.

The mecha in Code Geass were too exotic for my liking to be honest.

Mhm. I don't like them because I just dont like Giant Robots going Hand to Hand in combat (even though it happens occasionally in Geass, its still done well). They look too "Human" the mecha in FMP for my liking.

Thats the idea, however. Its why the AS units in FMP can be deemed "real mecha" instead of super. They are designed not to be Over the top super awesomely powerful, but to appear more like the next stage up in the military to your general tanks and such. Of course, there will be units like the Arbalest with greater technology, in series revolving around mecha, thats generally a no brainer, but it still has a sense of realism, and thats what makes them more appealing to me.

Don't read below if you haven't finished TSR ;p

Ahh i see. Personally Sousuke had been developing what i'd like to think is a more human/caring way of thinking since FMP season 1. Its not so obvious at the time, but you can steadily see throughout it that Sousuke was finally realising he had these feelings/emotions which he never considered and/or had to deal with before. TSR works well with it when it comes to Kaname, the idea that he suddenly didn't see it as just a job and more something he wanted to do was extremely evident, most specially with the smashing of his laptop. He was getting closer to Kaname then boom, things go haywire. Its only right he goes into deep thought and stuff i think. And the whole deal with Gauron really added to it, he played on those emotions of Sousuke's as he always did and it worked extremely well. But thats just me, hah ;p

To be fair most giant robots have the humanoid appearance, plus from what i've seen on MAHQ FMP mecha >>>> Code Geass Mecha. I like the styling of the FMP stuff :)
