Fall Anime Season 2011

There are quite a few things (like UN-GO and Lupin) I wouldn't mind picking up in R1 or in the case of followup series, if their first parts are great, but the only thing which looks Japanese-import-worthy for me at the moment is more Hakuouki (oh, and the next Unicorn of course) >_>;

Which is good, as I am flat broke at the moment due to greed with online ordering. Since there are so many sequels and remakes the season itself feels very light. I'll see what goes up on CR/AoD.

Oh, and I'll probably get Tekken and then hate myself for it as usually happens with these decisions.

So far, the two no brainers for me are:

Persona 4
Lupin III

Mainly because I'm a huge persona fan, and P4 is looking to be transitioning to anime well from the PVs shown. Also Lupin is always fun.

I'm going to give that Gundam a try. Normally choosing gundam is a no brainer, but i'm not sure what kind of effect having level 5 will have on it. The art style doesn't feel gundam-like either, but we'll see.

May give that other Sunrise series a try, but i don't know too much on it.

The only other one off the top of my head is LAst Exile, but i'll get the first series before i do that. The rest of everything i'll watch will no doubt be the OVAs shown.

I'm sure I'll be watching a bunch of stuff, but the most notable/pretty much guaranteed import shows for me are:

HaGaNai
Fate/Zero

"4th Untitled TV series" is a clue.
*shrug*

Last I heard it was a special, but it might have changed since then. But given that half of what I've seen of the Lupin franchise is garbage, I can't say I care too much in any case. Sorry old bean!
That's quite alright. Just don't head down any dark alleys...

The fact none of you have mentioned Lupin III makes me worry.
I take it you skipped my post then?
Yes.

Massive shana fan so this is a must watch for me, also looking forward to Ika-Musume season two and Fate/Zero.

Not sure on the rest, just hope crunchyroll decide to stream some of the other anime to the UK this time around so i can check them out.

Geez. I go away for two days and miss a Lupin discussion... Next time I'll go away for a week and see if someone starts a Votoms megathread.

As much as I'd like them to bring Lupin back for a fourth series, I'd take that chart with a pinch of salt at the moment. I'd have to dredge ANN for the actual sources, but I seem to remember it being rumoured as a tv series originally, but I think that was quashed and the likelihood is that it's just a return to the tv specials.

I've yet to see anything definite either way, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Hunter X Hunter
UN-GO
Guilty Crown
Squid Girl
Mirai Nikki

Considering watching Persona 4 since there's no way I'm ever gonna play a Japanese cartoon when I have the option to watch it now.

Put a more complete answer together now that we're a bit closer. I'm actually quite excited for the coming season now that I've looked into the shows a bit more.

Top of the list:

HaGaNai (Boku ha Tomodachi ga Sukunai)
Fate/Zero

Others:

Busou Shinki
Un-Go
Persona
Ika-musume
Last Exile
Working'!!
Bakuman
Ben-to (this will be the "surprise" hit of the season imo)
Shana
Mirai Nikki
Guilty Crown

Very cautious:

Gundam (s)AGE

Fate/Zero -

What I said: I am watching all of what Fate/Stay Night at the moment and with Gen Urobuchi writing the damn thing, it's a guaranteed watch.

What I thought: Now that i've got an idea of the Fate/Stay universe by watching both Fate/Stay Night and Unlimited Blade Works, watching Fate/Zero still felt a bit confusing.

Still that's to be expected, I haven't played the Visual Novels which would of been the better option, still I had to rely on familiar characters and my knowledge of the Holy Grail War.

Did this effect my enjoyment though? No.

Fate/Zero 1st 42 minute episode was surprisingly engaging with it being all talk with all that masters that will take part in this battle. It may allow the series to get closer to the action and let the plot flow in a decent place.

The presentation is simply amazing, a lot of production value has gone into this and it show's.

This is a no brainer to watch this 2cour series, it's going to be awesome!

What I thought: "Shut Up, I Kill You" - Dead Terrorist puppet

Why do I quote this? Well this is one of the similar recurring unfunny jokes of this unoriginal Harem Comedy.

I guess the only good thing i could I can say about it is the smart references but in such as the Persona eye glance.

Silver Link who are known for the successful "Baka To Test" series seems to put the same formula to this by getting a uninteresting male character and putting him with a group of girls that are going to annoy him. It can be really rotten and unlikeable which seems to be a trend for most anime studios.

This has little chance to surprise me but i'll stick with the three episode rule on this one.

So far all im interested in is Bakuman and Hunter x Hunter and both are great so far. need recomendations for other good shows to watch besides ungo which im not watching since i hate seiji mizushima :p is Fate/Zero any good for someone unfamiliar with with Fate Stay night ?

Yeah it really needs you to either not know the franchise at all or have played through Heaven's Feel.

There's a ton of spoilers that will totally ruin F/SN if you don't already know it. A lot of people who's real identities you don't know until late on are just given.

You'll be fine so long as you never intend to read it. It does explain what's going on F/SN dumped you in there and then explained as you went along, this flat up tells you near everything at the start.

I sort of disagree with this. I've only seen the anime of Fate/Stay Night (which I thought was very average until the end), and I checked out Fate/Zero on Saturday. After a dry start (and the kooky circling part >_>) I really got into it and now I'm looking forward to next week.

I'm sure you get more out of it if you've played all the routes in the game, but I assure you it's not mandatory for enjoyment.

I didn't say you won't enjoy Zero.
But that you won't enjoy F/SN as much if you've seen/read zero first on account of all the spoilers.

F/SN major spoilers in ep 1:
Saber is King Arthur,(midway through Fate)
who Ilya is, (end of Fate)
Sakura is Rin's Sister (midway through Heaven's Feel)
the Matou clan's magecraft (Heaven's Feel)

Did the F/SN anime actually cover what the grail was, or did it just do the Fate ending.

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon -

What I thought: This is a bit of a strange coming from the director of less successful SOL shows: Saki and A-Channel but this is a pretty decent action title by Sunrise, even it's concept remind's me of Sunrise other title Gintama.

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon feels huge and ambitious but it only has 13 episode's to tell it's story but there is a problem with this, the series introduces us to all of these characters in just one episode, all there special abilities may of been introduced but to get to know around 15+ characters will be pretty silm.

The only great things about it is Sunrise's awesome, varied and fun battle sequence but again come back to the characters, most have given poor first impressions...

However I haven't given up with Horizon, I would like to see more.

It does, in its small defence, have a second cour already announced from what I understand, starting in Spring next year. But yeah, it's going to be quite hectic from the looks of things.
