dont you just hate it when.........

Not as strong as to warrant my hatred, but i don't really like mecha anime.

Why? EVERY GUNDAM IS THE SAME!!! and i can't stand the moody arsed teens who pilot them.

Give me fist pumping motivational speech from Kamina

Give me aggression and badass on par with Revvy (black lagoon) but in the form of Jo from burst angel

Give me sword battles and vengance story with mecha fights from Vann in Gun X Sword.

Give me intellectual, thought provoking anime and spice it up with mecha gunfights with a cute factor and comedy relief, yes people... i'm talking about GITS

NOT depressive, moody kids fighting because "you killed [insert family/friend/randomer name here] YOU MUST DIE"

Hell, Medabots was fun because it was mostly episodical (like pokemon) and was more comedy than anything, it worked well for me.

/my rant and rave

*looks at post, removes steposcope from tachi's chest*

I diagnose mecha-simplification syndrome, where you think every mecha is gundam...or at worst case scenario, you think every gundam is Gundam Seed which is punishable by death I believe.

The condition is treatable though, here's your prescription. Watch two episodes of the Mazinkaiser OVA and see me in the morning. :p

Seriously though, i wouldn't forsake all the mecha genre , just because gundam gets a little dark (though not as bad as Evanglion). If you want something in the vein of TTGL then Mazinkaiser and the rest of the Super Robot genre will be up your street. Comparing Koji Kabuto to any of the gundam protangotnists is like chalk and cheese. Or another suggestion would be to watch Full Metal Panic! Comedy and Mecha balanced in the first season then full on wackiness in Fumoffu.

I would recommend Rahxephon over Eva, shows are very, very similar to each other but Ayato, the main character of Rah, is a hell of a lot more likable then Shinji and the show gets depressing but ends on a great high note with as little confusion as possible. Then again saying that you prefer Rah over Eva can get you killed in some circles.

all else fails, just watch Big O :p

Used to love watching Megas XLR, that was a funny show (but not an anime) i may have to give Rah a go, till then i've still got Gun X Sword to finish off lol.

It sounds like someone needs to watch G Gundam.

The one thing which annoys me more than anything else in anime, and this affects most genres, is how almost every time someone is in hospital they have a bandage tied around around their head, over their hair, to indicate illness. Even when they have a broken leg or something similarly unrelated. At some point I started noticing it and there's been no turning back since.

To sell OP and ED singles?

But seriously, do you want them longer, or shorter? Are you crazy enough to not want them at all?!

You know -Tachi- at one point I would have agreed with you very much on your stance of all Gundam being terrible. However one day, young sparrowsabre sold me the complete first season of Gundam 00.

While the pilots of the group are both young and angsty, sunrise do a good job of making the characters likeable by playing off the characters angst as only a small part of the greater character and by also making it part of the reason they are members of an exclusive team, because they understand the hatred war causes and that they must bring an end to it.

The series is also somewhat thought provoking, celestial being aim to end the wars of the world through armed intervention but in doing so not only extinguish the flames of war but also fan them, sparking new wars, leading the viewer to question who is really in the right.

Yay I helped! I'm starting to wonder if I wasn;t a little hasty since the anime legends have yetto be release XD I'm hoping they follow the geass pattern and will release it in a few months now second season is out.

I really liked that duality in Gundam 00, the irony of fighting to end all fighting. Especially since it seems to only spur further development in warfare tech. Also I think the characters are mostly fairly well balanced off each other (though there is still a bit too much angst).

I've since watched Mobile Suit Gundam when it aired on crunchyroll which was better than I expected and ... um... the cgi gundam which I forget the name of...IGLOO I think, which was interesting if not very exciting.

edit: Young? Aren't we basically the same age? (At least that's what I thought :p)

I love OPs and EDs how they are. Even the ones that misrepresent the entire series :p Often they can be the best part of the show in some cases lol. and does it really matter they're that long? the actual meat of the show isn't any shorter because of it.

I hate it more when I'm watching an anime and my parent(s) will come in and say "whatcha watching" at the worst possible moment. I.e. something highly fanservicey or if I'm watching Ouran :p

-a anime doesn't stay true to a manga and ends quickly
- when they have voice actors that doesn't a crap and the anime dialog sound awful
-when they change things like characters eye and hair colour in a second or 3rd season
- when a series you like is never finished
- or a series is to short and should of had more episodes e.g. gurren largann
-when a manga is talking to long to finish e.g. guyver
- when the translation is crappy and they had new dialog that not in the manga e.g. dragonball z
- when a there a episode or OVA missing from a complete boxset
- when a second or 3rd season of something that didn't come out

anyone else wanna say anything ...........

Most of those I've never really suffered from. I think everyone has suffered the awful dub problem. The last time a series I felt was half decent had a really awful dub character was Escaflowne (Dilandau) Since then the worst I think I've had was the change of cast between ROD (The OVA) and ROD TV.

The Series too short one is quite common though. ROD the OVA was Criminally short (The series, while pretty good in general and extremely good in parts in no way compares to how good the OVA is) Some older OVA series desperately deserve a full TV series (Dominion tank police)

The only example where I have read a manga where the series is extremely different to it is Hellsing. As it turned out however, the Manga turns into a complete mindless bloodbath with zero plot and just more and more blood and guts where as the series at least tries to put a plot together. So all in all I think that was a good thing not a bad one! Read quite a few Manga now, but the only other one with a decent amount of Anime adaption is Negima, which I have not got round to watching either.
