Anime That is Cut in the UK: The Definitive Thread

It's a shame. Coz a bit of Duran Duran on the opening is about the only thing that would persuade me to watch Speed Grapher.
 
Another song substitution in a forthcoming anime release.

Lamp of a Wish replaces Lili Marleen in episode 8 of Strike Witches (wiki)... Funimation couldn't get the rights for the song, and since all our DVDs ultimately derive from there...

"Lili Marleen" (リリーマルレーン Ririi Marureen?), translated by Takaaki Suzuki, and performed by Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke (Rie Tanaka), is used as an insert song in episode 8. In Funimation's release, Lamp of a Wish (願いの灯火 Negai no Tomoshibi?), a song also sung by Rie Tanaka from the CD album for the Strike Witches: What I Can Do Along With You game, was substituted for Lili Marleen.

Well, at least it isn't an instrumental or an "America, F--- Yeah!" song that a company like 4Kids would have done (Oh wait, 4kids would have "America, Sandwich Yeah!").

I remember one of the insert songs they made for Mew Mew Power, with lyrics like "A little change is...supernatural".

Yeah, fits the Americans 100%. =3

You mean new cuts. Uncut isn't news.
 
Just a small note: just because something has no cuts by the BBFC does not mean it's not cut. The Walking Dead UK was passed uncut by the BBFC yet did have some cuts made, but because the UK discs used the cut European masters, the BBFC did not do any cutting themselves. So if the master is cut then it won't show on the BBFC.

I'm not saying AF is right, but be aware that lack of BBFC cuts =/= no cuts in some cases.

That's exactly why I asked for evidence. Just saying something is cut doesn't make it so. To support your argument, if you look at the BBFC information for The Human Centipede 2, it's marked as uncut. In other words the distro precut it for classification. The point is that you can see that information in the Press releases and news stories. If AF offers more details about the cuts or links, then it's worth investigating and including in a definitive list of cut UK anime.

EDIT: So that got me curious and Googling, which AF could have done first and saved me some bits...

Initially cut, the 2006 release by Manga Entertainment presented the uncut movie for the first time, however, two moments of profanity in the English dub were still edited, not cut, just muted. The profane version was released in Australia. From Wiki The Japanese version of the film, available as part of the 2006 release is completely unedited. More detail here
 
As far as I know the UK release of SFII is uncut, Chun Li nipplage and all. There was an edited version included with the Anniversary Collection on PS2/Xbox but that's all.

You also get stuff that is double cut, both by the distributor & by the BBFC such as the original Legend of the Overfiend series. That was cut to make it from an episodic OVA to a film & then for content by Manga & then for content again by the BBFC. I think Violence Jack was also double cut like that as well & LA Blue Girl Returns .
