Alas, I haven't seen it - but it's very clearly my kind of show. Really wish some enterprising distributor would give it a quality release. HINT HINT.
 
I won't be complaining about that price. Just hope the others will be the same. £100 for a 26 episode series is still a painful amount of money for me to spend though, luckily it's spread out.

Then you'll be glad to know that it's a 24 episode series, not 26 :D

In all seriousness though, considering the barebones botch job that was Manga's release of SAO, you're getting a major boost in quality for the overall product as well as a nice artbox/physical extras for pretty much the same price. I'd say it's pretty well documented by now that this is the only release format Aniplex are allowing for the show, so it's not like you're not getting your moneys worth this time around. If anyone complains, then point them in the direction of the US release which is over £50 per part for the standard edition BD.

What only 24? That's it I'm cancelling my preorder, what a rip off, I hate Anime Ltd now!

On a more serious note....... Yeah I know :) it just makes me feel I have my priorities in life messed up when I add it up ;) as I should be looking at saving some money up, getting married etc.
I did grab all of the manga releases of SAO but I only paid £15 each for them using vouchers and I felt ripped off then given the presentation but I had to have them because I really enjoyed the show.

In the future I'll just have to avoid watching anything with the name Aniplex attached to it so I don't get into these kinds of situations. As for the extras (box/artbook etc), I normally couldn't care less about them because they never feel worth the extra cost as I only ever look at them once or twice and they take up more shelf space, at the current price it's a nice extra though.
 
Sadly, Aniplex always seem to have the best shows (with the highest prices to boot) - subjective I know, but they certainly play right into the otaku market. They know their audience, at any rate.

I've become an otaku? Oh god! maybe it's time I sat down and watched through Welcome to the NHK, it might save me.

Getting married can certainly be expensive. All those figures, hug pillows and so on to collect, the costs do mount up...

Wait, what kind of marriage were you talking about?
 
The same I guess. Character pillows for when you're relegated to the couch for some transgression (probably for opening my mail and finding a character pillow).

Figurines to keep funds low enough that I'm not forced to redecorate rooms every 6 months because the colour doesn't go with the new curtains that were picked up for a bargain in a sale.
 
Just marry someone who will be impressed you bought SAO on BD and split the costs of the sequel. Problem solved and no need to rearrange your lifestyle now :D

(Though you then have to offset that against the risk of opening their mail and finding a character pillow instead.)

NTSC to PAL hasn't been "usual" for years. PAL discs are all authored from HD masters now, so it's 24fps to PAL, the video is sped up, not slowed down (and by only 4%, not 15%) and the audio is usually pitch corrected (although that does bring it's own problems at times).
 
Judging by how the US versions are going, the UK parts should be laided out with:

Set 1: Episodes 1-7
Set 2: Episodes 8-14.5
Set 3: Episodes 15-17
Set 4: Episodes 18-24
 
The US release dates are interesting. ~3 months between Set 1 and Set 2, but then ~2 months for 2-3 and 3-4...
