There does appear to be something up with Royal Mail collecting orders from AL's distribution partner though - I received my dispatch notice for Cyberpunk on Monday, but it still hasn't been collected from the warehouse by Royal Mail nearly 48 hours later...?
@Hanners - do you have any insight on this?
What does your RM tracking say? Delays and extra time for delivery is pretty common - the whole delivery process is just slower at this time of year due to increased volume and chronic understaffing from RM themselves.
It's just unfortunate that the 12 days of Christmas sale is also directly after all the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, so delivery offices are currently rammed with BF parcels
and all the Christmas shopping and letters that have recently ensued.
I wouldn't worry too much - one year it took 10+ working days for the tracking to update on one of my Christmas sale orders, after receiving a despatch email. You will get your order 99.9% of the time.
A lot of the time, RM will collect parcels from businesses and it won't receive a scan (tracking update) until it's entered the nearby delivery office. However, because the delivery offices are absolutely packed at this time of year, many parcels are not scanned into the RM system until they've cleared what they're already working on to deliver - which means it looks like your parcel hasn't been picked up or made any progress yet.
The reason they do this is because RM24 and RM48 are tracked services and they need to keep to company targets for delivering within the suggested timeframe of these services - once a RM24/RM48 parcel is scanned into the RM system, that's when the clock starts. Which is why they don't scan in every single parcel as they receive it, otherwise they would miss their targets on a lot of parcels (according to their computers, anyway).
So while it may take longer for you to get your order, in RM's system it looks like it was delivered in good-ish time. Your parcel will likely be sitting in a delivery office right now, but simply not scanned into the system yet.
