I think they are on Netflix, so you can check them out. The second has some new animation and third has even more. How does the movie trilogy compare to the OG series?
Been mulling getting into UC Gundam

No as far as I know.Does the Japanese release have English subtitles?
I just realised that, since AL "fixed" my not getting any emails from them two weeks ago, I still haven't received anything from them. Are they no longer sending out marketing emails? It's actually kinda annoying imo that things are starting to just randomly drop rather than get announced on the blog or a stream
Awkwardly, both still get referenced. So even though the movies make some changes, stuff from the TV run we don't see (including certain tech) is still considered to exist. The movies are what's canon, it makes some changes from the series.
How come it’s cheaper than the U.K. one?The UHD early bird price is €89.99 on the French store. Unfortunately they only ship the set to French speaking countries. Would've jumped on it if they shipped to Pays-Bas.
And then you have the currency difference, the French version VAT inclusive is still nearly €10 cheaper than the UK set ex VAT.Usually it's the other way around, so...
SRP 120 € vs 120 GBP is quite "usual", as the UK site usually offers ~ 40 % early-bird discount, but FR only 25 %. This time the early bird discount in the UK is lower than usual...

Guru Mark Simmons has talked at length about how Gundam doesn't really have 'canon'.
Really, the movie trilogy spares you from having to watch "Time Be Still", a filler episode which is Tomino's sole script credit in the original series and is pretty dumb. And the mixed results of “what to watch between series and movies for OG Gundam” continues
I googled it and got a mixed feeling with a slight leaning on the series
My 4k collection thanks you, my bank manager hates you. Balance, achieved![]()
Oh for a newb I'd say the Gundam 79 movies every time. They did us no harm when the tv version wasn't available - they cut a lot of filler, the animation is generally better, and if you love them you get to watch it all again with the tv version. And the mixed results of “what to watch between series and movies for OG Gundam” continues

Is anyone else a little disappointed with the Makoto Shinkai Anthology set that is releasing next week? I was ready to triple dip on it (I have both the regular and steelbook Blu-rays) but after seeing it only comes with a poster I won't be getting it.
I would have liked to have seen an art book and some art cards like most of the other collectors editions come with and I would especially have loved to have seen She and Her Cat: Everything Flows (I know Shinkai wasn't really involved with it but I'm a completionist!) and Suzame included, but this just seems extremely bare bones.
On a more positive note I did manage to find the Voices of a Distant Star/The Place Promised in our early Days collectors edition Blu-ray set this weekend for a very reasonable price.
