UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Durarara!!'s LE was limited to 3000 copies, it's been out 18 months, has been insanely cheap for the past 3, doesn't really have to compete with the US release (it's an AoA release so was both expensive and limited) and is now the best release for English-speakers in the world. That still hasn't sold 3000 copies.

I think 1000 is a lot more copies than some of us realise...

1,000 sells pretty quickly for us really sometimes too though...really depends on the show! Example being Tokyo Ghoul Limited Edition will really be limited, I don't see it lasting in stock for super long (so would advise buying now).

Also DRR has been out 18 months and is almost out of stock on the LE so it's not lasted all that long when you consider the disc situation for it too really...

I think the limited aspect certainly helps when it comes to Anime Ltd products - ie. Buy now or you might regret it later. Whereas perhaps with Manga and MVM, people can expect DOTW offers or heavy sale discounts as early as a year later.

Tokyo Ghoul does seem especially popular though, the manga version too!

May I ask if there will be a standard edition when it sells out?

It looked interesting to me, but I missed the simulcast so haven't yet seen it.

That's the plan there :)!

I want to ask sth about the Ping Pong - Collector's Edition.

I saw there's sth like a card or a booklet in the item picture.

Is there's someone who know what really is?

I couldn't find the info on official website/zavvi/amazon.

Isn't that just the digipack?

You mean the stuff in middle of the Picture is just a digipack?

Quick question(s) (that've probably been covered before, apologies if so). Does there always tend to be a standard release after a collector's edition? Or does it depend on how well the collector's edition sold?

Just I'm interested in Ping-pong, but not quite enough to blind buy a collector's edition.

Also noticed that Space Dandy Season 2 standard edition blu-ray has vanished from this years releases?

Andrew said they'll always have a standard edition out there however certain shows like Kill la Kill will have to wait until a certain time due to licensing reasons.

Not sure what happened with Space Dandy S2 SE, same should be said about the Tiger & Bunny films (I know they planned a double film pack but that couldn't happen).

I imagine they're probably waiting until they can do a cheap combined season 1 and two Blu Ray once the Limited edition stock is sold out, like they did with Bebop.

There was an standard version of Dandy S1 though. Not doing an S2 standard edition and heading straight to a double pack would piss a significant number of people off, I certainly hope AL wouldn't do something like that.

Maybe they felt, after gauging sales figures, that there wasn't enough of a market to do both the standard and collector BRs for part 2? Purely speculating here though...

I doubt it, the collector's edition is limited is it not? My guess is AL are waiting for Space Dandy to start selling out or for Bandai to give them permission to do a standard edition.
