UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Terror in Resonance is a title that we've heard nothing about since the streaming.

FUNi haven't said anything either, and AL are probably waiting on them. How annoying would it be for AL if they put out a sub-only release and then FUNi announced they were dubbing it?

I am 100% sure it will be dubbed, in France we've got it scheduled for end of year - for UK I reckon it'll be Q1 at some point for next year but I've not forgotten about it and have tasked Keith with doing something nice on the set so watch this space :).

Rightstuf have officially confirmed their MSG release is due for November 3rd, so if anything Anime Limited could release theirs as soon as the first half of November.

Their extra features include Clean Opening and Closing, and Blu-ray and DVD Commercials with $74.99 price tag for BD, so if anything Anime Limited's pricing for the set is just about right, especially when they'll probably give it a much better design and packaging.

Rightstuf have confirmed their Collection 1 set will be 2 Blu-ray discs. So that's 10 episodes dub & sub per disc.

I know it would probably be very hard for you guys to pull off, but is there any chance of you guys getting either of the soundtrack/score CDs for TIR?

To be fair, I don't think I've watched any other Shinkai films. I don't pay a lot of attention to directors and such really, I'm not sure if it's a good habit or a bad one.

That's interesting, it does sound like we could end up with a release that is both cheaper and better (superficially, at least).

Re: directors - as they're considered to be the author/auteur of the film, it's generally a good indication if you're going to like the rest of their work or not so that's why I generally pay attention to a film because of the director over anything else.

Re: Gundam, if Andrew manages to pull a booklet out of the bag then we've got that over the States. I'm guessing that the States' lack of any real extras means that we won't be getting the same goodies as the Italians though.

2 discs worries me slightly. It's doable - MoC managed to get 4 hours and 53 inutes of Shoah onto a BD50 but you're going to need a darn good encoder.

YAY :)

Mentioned it a few times in this thread and assumed your lack of response meant the title was dead, very happy to hear about this!

Looks great, though the OCD in me is saying "why isn't it top loading" but then the fan in me says "shut up and just enjoy the amazing looking release!"

Can't wait to get round to watching this, going to rewatch Season 1 next week then dive straight in to season 2 when this arrives!

Great stuff.

This one comes with an o-card and isn't a top loader, huh. I still wonder why AL went with a top loader for the first one, I actually liked that aspect to it. Maybe it was too expensive or the added thickness due to the cards prevented them using the same 'chassis' or maybe they just didn't like it/it was problematic during production/time consuming. The artwork looks nice I guess and although I don't care for art-cards, 20 is a nice amount and the art looks nice, wound't mind scanning them :p

I'm not usually one to harp on discrepancies between releases, but honestly I find the changes to the packaging between Space Dandy boxsets 1 and 2 particularly jarring. It's not so much the change from top-loading to side-loading(?), but the use of a full-sized O-card and the cleaning up of the artbox itself.

I'll still pick it up for completion's sake, but definitely not at release. I'd be interested in learning some of the behind-the-scenes info that goes into packaging decisions, be it in a forum post, podcast, etc..

Yeah I really prefer the obi. I think its first use with AL started with KLK and I thought that it was a good fit, keeps both sides the box itself clean and allows you to keep the info visible while not obscuring the art on the box. I guess it depends with each release and what the requirements are, maybe they are required or wanted to present more info about the release on the back of the box this time around and it wouldn't fit on the smaller obi. I guess there's a multitude of reasons like cost/Different manufacturer etc. As it goes, I'm not a fan of the large o-cards because I never want to throw them away but it makes the box look uglier while with the obi I can keep it on and get the best of both worlds since its less obtrusive. Just a little thing I guess and an o-card is better than no clean box at all!

The art cards look nice and so does the box, but the changes from the first seasons CE are kind of disappointing. Still excited to get my order for it, though.

Judging by this, there's an HD master of Mind Game so... *gets on knees* *begs*

That seems like a bit of a leap to assume something had a HD master, because it's on Netflix.

It doesn't neccesarily mean there's a HD master available. I've not seen it, but apparently One Piece's "HD master" is just a straight crop of the original, with some commentators seemingly suggesting that no restoration/remastering work has been done at all...

I don't see why Crunchyroll would bother reporting it if they're not true HD masters. Hopefully Andrew can investigate and get back to us ;)

Basically - the top-load was an experiment but I wasn't satisfied with the print glue on my copy here, made me a bit worried that the template used was not as great as all that in that position (which figures perhaps as packages are rarely done that way). Art cards in that loading format would as you guess have jammed too.

O-Card in this case was to give people the shot of a clean box if they want or a full O-Card otherwise. Have experimented with other solutions too, this one just seemed to fit :).

TL;DR - Keep trying new things, don't think this one is highly detrimental but we do aim for consistency and there was a long debate in office on how to do part 2. It's fully my fault if anyone disapproves too as our product manager on this one wanted to be consistent, I kicked off (sorry to anyone put out, I still love it though!)

Podcast most likely :D.

First of all as always I appreciate the El Presidente himself taking time out of his day to respond and reply so thanks for that (mind you, it's not like I don't enjoy Jeremy's company either!). I agree with what you said, consistency is key however at the same time you shouldn't necessarily bare the brunt of it and stick with a method that didn't work just for the sake of it at the detriment of the product itself. Anime Limited have been at it for a while but regardless you're still a young company and although teething problems are a thing of the past, this is part 2 to a set that came out at the end of last year and a lot has changed in the office since then I'd imagine.

You put effort in your releases and care enough to respond to people here so I know a lot of thought went into the decision and it wasn't taken lightly back at HQ. In the end, you went with changes you thought suited this release and some consistency has obviously stayed in tact here such as the book, clear amaray etc. I won't be picking this up any time soon myself, but as always I'll keep my eye open. Best of luck on your release!

While I'm here, boring question and you're all busy, but I assume a Blu-ray complete collection may show up down the pipeline? No movement on a Bebop deluxe set either I assume? Thanks again. Also, as always, I'll voice my want for Gunbuster :thumb: I won't stop nagging until it's announced! :p

Best of luck on your upcoming releases, hopefully the hard work pays off.
