UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

well there were quite a few cases where AL did very early early birds, and ended up having things delayed, and people moaning on end so they've stopped doing them. That's why Early Birds are generally within 2-4 weeks of the release date now instead of a few months before.

I was starting to worry, but I finally received the preorder for Hyouka. It was shipped at the same time as Eureka Seven which I received a week ago, but arrived with a different shipping carrier. Apparently DHL is much faster with international shipping than the national shipping carriers.

Another amazing release which I'm proud to have in my collection. :)

That was mainly Zeta Gundam Part 1 as it ended up being delayed by over 6 months due to the assets for the French subtitles being delivered extremely behind schedule.

For those who have no idea what happened with the Funimation release, the Chinese dialogue was not subtitled for the English dub viewers whereas the previous Beez & Bandai releases did. You had to manually switch on the subtitles for those segments like the UK customers had to do with Manga UK's FREEDOM release (and yes it is tedious).

Thanks for the clarification!

Although I wasn't involved with QC on this title, I'm actually settled down in a cozy living room to watch our release of Sword of the Stranger myself tonight (one of the perks of the job!), so I can confirm a couple of things:

- Firstly, we've authored our own discs for the film.
- Secondly, I've just taken a quick look at the English dub presentation and the Chinese dialogue does indeed include English subtitles by default.

In short, that issue isn't present on our release, so you'll be able to enjoy it to the fullest regardless of your choice of audio track!

Now, back to watching this awesome movie for the first time in years...

Regarding talk of glitchy Sword of the Stranger discs from years gone by:

This instills a great deal of confidence.

I'm looking over the forum on a REALLY short coffee break (don't work freelance, guys - it'll eat your time up like a hungry hungy hippo munches those plastic balls) so I've had a quick scan, but couldn't spot the specific issue I referenced being mentioned.

To clear up any doubt, if it's useful, what I was referring to was a single line of dialogue RIGHT at the end of the movie that inexplicably appears subtitled. Regardless of whether subs are selected or not, it comes up. To my knowledge, this has blighted the US and European releases that came through Bamdai and Beez.

I suspect a lot of folks will live with it. But for me, it was such a wrench and distraction from the movie, at such a key point, that I've always held out hope for a fixed version.

Come what may, I'm certainly looking forward to receiving the Anime Limited version of the movie.

I noticed that too when I first saw the film. I believe it was only affecting the Beez release so considering Andy watched the film dubbed he would have noticed it (and since it wasn't mentioned on here, then it's probably fixed).

I guess the glitch is still present as Andrew just outright ignored my question

Sorry, plane wifi was gash or I'd have replied :). Patience is a virtue and I'm really busy so just because I don't reply, doesn't mean it's the truth. Think Andy covered this one out already anyway but it's not using the same discs as Beez or Funimation so any previous issues shouln't be recurring to best of my knowledge :).

Best,

Andrew

I snapped up Sword of the Stranger, which makes five purchases now. I also just received Escaflowne & Miss Hokusai in the post. The box had been slightly banged up in transit, but fortunately both sets were unscathed. I wasn't expecting them to be so big; I'll have to do some re-arranging as the packaging won't fit on the thin multi-shelf blu ray storage units that I own. ^^

Just waiting on the Yuasa bundle & Claymore now. Still haven't received dispatch notifications, so hopefully they'll be shipped before the weekend is out.

With any luck Momotaro will also show up as a pre-order. I know it's been pushed back a few times, so fingers crossed the approvals are close to being sorted

It's a complicated project, hoping for a late Q1 release but it all depends on the approvals - it's not a usual project as we wrote a whole book on the film to go with it so that takes time to clear as the widow of the director needs to approve it too. Will be worth it in the end though :).

@anime_andrew

In a different subject for the Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust CE. Will you have access to the illustrations that Amano have done for the franchise?

Example wise is the DVD Perfect Collection that was released in JP back in 2004

Well, no. Mainly because you just linked the original OVA bundle which has nothing to do with Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust except for the fact that it is based on the same series of novels that Bloodlust is. Licensors do not generally permit you to take artwork from a whole different committee and use it on their works (all sorts of clearance issues with it).

Sorry, it's a cracking visual though!

Best,

AP

Wow thank you Jeremy before the new order went on was going beg for erased....and it's on offer thank you bargain at £14.99. Quickest I've orders something

Erased Part 1 at a price that is insulting to those of us that bought the early bird at £30? Thanks AL. Meanwhile, Part 2 has been delayed by several months since the Part 1 early bird.

I picked up FMA Part 1 though, couldn't pass up that bargain.
