UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

It was another great listen. It seems to have slipped into a very enjoyable format, managing to be both informative and fun. I really look forward to listening to these now.

Re Outlaw Star - the DVDs have been on my 'to get' list for a while, but I'll hold off now with the expectation of picking it up on BD at some point, hopefully a AL release. I don't mind waiting though, so the team's response to that question is absolutely fine by me. It's a future consideration, but not a current priority. Much like my own take on picking it up!

In all honesty I don't mind if it doesn't come out on bluray as as mentioned on the podcast the dvd is amazing. I've seen worse video quality on blurays than the Outlaw Star dvd upscaled.

I think my main problem here is that there's a massive amount of anime available on BD these days, and whilst my budget is probably better than moderate I always end up thinking that I could get a super-looking DVD, or get another show/movie in HD. That's largely what's prevented me from picking it up so far.

Latest podcast is up.

http://blog.alltheanime.com/podcast-3-14th-april-2015/

Space Dandy season 2 is sounding mighty fine!

Anyone summarise what they said about Space Dandy, can't listen until the weekend.

If I remember correctly, it will come with:

20 Art cards

An illustration exclusive to this release

A slip cover that contains the logos/BBFC icon etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong though!

A book as well.

Just listened to the podcast and read the latest Newswire, some interesting questions in there. When you was talking about Kickstarters it got me thinking, because my Patema was damaged and I remember messaging about it and getting a response that it would be looked into back in December, and back then the newswires had "And just to include a mention of it in here, there is no new update on Patema Inverted at this time." in regards to replacements, however word on that has all but disappeared, just wondering if I'm out of luck on that and if that's something that hasn't moved forward or if it's something that will ever be rectified, since I know it effected a very tiny number of people, if anyone other than myself. I guess my hopes disappeared when the Gurren Lagann replacement was ended and the focus has now moved onto Durarara, a more pressing issue.

Glad you liked my question! I was a bit worried that people would find these sort of things boring/would want to hear Andrew answer questions about up coming releases etc instead

Not at all!

I'm developing a much greater interest in these sorts of issues, lately. If nobody asks these sorts of questions (or answers them, for that matter) then we miss out on some really great insights. It's the sort of question I'd be posting to Andrew and Co. if I wasn't so brain-frazzled by the time I make it to my round trip of social media sites every day.

Tempted to cancel Kill La Kill part 3 from Amazon and reorder from AlltheAnime because of the voucher they sent me.

Do they package their stuff any better? I'm in Australia so that's key.

Trust me we haven't forgotten about Patema and sorry if you felt that was the case. We're fully intending to explore what might be possible but right now we haven't got a time frame on that. (This is partly why we're only highlighting one particular replacement programme at a time right now.) But if/when there is any update on it believe we'll make it known :)

That's fine, take your time. I'd rather you focus all of your efforts on the thing that is affecting more people at the moment, something that will take more energy from yourselves. I was just wondering if Patema was still happening is all :) Durarara seems to be going well, with the standard edition dated so I look forward to that.

Hey guys, just to say that Durarara!! Standard Edition Blu-ray and DVD sets coming 8th June: http://blog.alltheanime.com/durarara-standard-edition/

My Name Twin is going to be very happy about that DVD :3

Great to see this getting sorted, must've been a pain in the butt for you guys, ya'know to have it hanging over your heads for so long.

I do have a question though, seeing as the standard BD is coming up, does that mean the CE of Durarara!! is expected to be OOP soon? Just cause I've always presumed standard editions where released when print runs of CE were low.

So the English dub cast has been announced by Funimation for 009 Re:Cyborg. Anime Limited outsourced the dub to N.Y.A.V. Post, here's the cast:
The cast, under voice directors Michael Sinterniklaas and Anthony Tortorici, is:
Jason Griffith as 009: Joe Shimamura
Marc Diraison as 002: Jet Link
Erin Fitzgerald as 003: Françoise Arnoul
Dave B. Mitchell as 004: Albert Heinrich
John White as 007: Great Britain
Marcus Griffin as 008: Pyunma
Michael Sorich as 006: Chang Changku
Patrick Seitz as 005: Geronimo Jr.
Stephanie Sheh as 001: Ivan Whisky
George C. Cole as Dr. Isaac Gilmore
Kevin T. Collins as Samuel Klein
Greg Abbey as Void
Sean Schemmel as Navy Man

David Raymer is handling mixing.
The Funimation version will be out on July 28th with this:
The first-run release of 009 Re:Cyborg is our Limited Edition and comes with an exclusive 44-page Interview and Data booklet, packed to the brim with behind-the-scenes key points about the direction and world of the film, as well as artwork, character profiles, and a very thorough interview with the director. As anime fans, we’ve loved seeing Director Kamiyama’s take on how technology affects human interactions in our modern and increasingly globalized world, themes hugely apparent in his past works, so if you like cool sci-fi that also has meaning, 009 Re:Cyborg is a real showcase of all of that. When we say that this booklet is packed, we mean PACKED— it’s very dense and a great value add to any fans who wants to get a little more out of anime. Look out for previews of the booklet soon!

Andrew or Jeremy (either one would do), one things I'm curious about (no point asking about the date since it's probably a can't confirm/deny response at this time). For our Collector's Edition release, will it include the booklet that's better or identical to the Funi version? To me it sounds like Funimation just took the booklet you made for their release.

Ours is unusual vs Funimation's so expect the 3D and 2D version in HD and we've got some meaty on-disc extras along with one of the premium booklet's from the Japanese release (28 pages) which helped us a lot grasping some of the film!

Full details in due course...

I'm looking forward to seeing anime in 3D!

I doubt Toei would allow it, but it would be fantastic if some of the meat in the sandwich was the original 1966 film. Maybe they'll let you have a trailer reel for the previous films?
