UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

You'll benefit from seeing 0079 but it's not essential. Sure some character arcs spin off from it but really it amounts to the older cast being "We fought to save the Federation and THIS is what it became?"

I expect I can foresee the answer to this, but would I be right in assuming that the Zeta Gundam releases will suffer from the same opening and ending theme problem as their R1 counterparts?

SamFlam delayed

Sources of the information are always useful. ...

Edit - just seen the tweet from AL now confirming it. This is the last of my existing orders with AL and a show I've been waiting to watch for ages now :( less than a week before release day is a proper bastard.

I'm sort of glad I've stopped pre ordering titles and buying day 1, delays are annoying for everyone and literally every title gets at least a few! At least now I don't really care if there are delays because I don't have any orders and thus nothing to wait for and be disappointed by :)

I'm pretty much the same at this point, I never pre-order anime (or games actually) as everything gets a delay or 2 now days. I just wait until it actually comes out and see if I'm even still interested by then (I'm usually not as it turns out, so saves me money really). I mean, I pre-ordered Letter to Momo, was really interested in it but by the time it came out I had lost most of my interest as it took so long, still not watched it as it actually.

I do get pretty annoyed when it's so close to release though, or if it's a part 2 of something that I'm 100% buying because I have part 1.....

Yep. It's due to them being done in cooperation with Neil Sedaka, leading to issues licensing them outside of Japan.

I keep seeing this come up in relation to Zeta Gundam:

Folks are aware of just how **** Neil Sedaka's music is, right? The music that replaced it feels far more fitting for a space opera to me.

I like the originals. Tomino tends to write the songs for his shows and they have a fun style that gets you pumped to watch. I can understand why they picked the ones for the change but big bombastic music with generic robot sounds placed over it is just boring. I always say the new OPs are what the people who started the "Zeta is the best Gundam EVER!!" myth would pick.

Without making this too political and with yet to hear the podcast, I kinda wonder if Brexit might have influenced Sunrise on pushing for the Gundam releases to cater to both markets. We're talking about a foreign show coming out on grade-A physical media and now one country is staring down an uncertain financial future. The idea of securing Sunrise's own investment by them requesting the discs be viable for France too doesn't sound too far fetched.

Just idle speculation.

Considering it appears to only be Zeta that is getting the French sub treatment, I wouldn't look too much in to it.
