UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Yikes! I didn't know they were that hard to deal with when canceling.

I never tried to cancel from zavvi. I have bought one on BD from zavvi on ebay, and I have one pre-order with them since they got the Perfect Blue BD steelbook.
That's about it.
Zavvi are fine for cancelling. You can cancel any time upto when they take the money and the order goes into their dispatch system.

Despite getting an email yesterday from Music Magpie that SAO 2 Part 4 was delayed until Monday I have just received shipping confirmation.

Well i did work this time. But had it happened twice before that cancelling wouldn't work. In these cases it was when i saw i made a mistake and tried to cancelling it half an hour after ordering, and then it was possible and was already in their dispatch system. But it then still took 2 or 3 days for they actually shipped it out.

Anyway, worked now, and ordered it from Amazon UK now and it's already shipped. 3£ more than at Zavvi but that's OK as i do want to get this.

So glad to finally have Sword Art Online Season 2 complete, will try to start it next week, looking forward to this.

All in all, a fantastic set of releases, well done Anime Limited :)

Hopefully Andrew will see this or someone else might know , Is Yona and Empire of corpses still planned for release in July ?
I'm not Andrew, but Yona is a Funimation one and it is already out in the US so I don't foresee any delays (although since none of the Funimation label titles have come out yet, they are still a little of an unknown quantity).
Empire of Corpses is almost certainly using the French packaging (they also have a steelbook and the title is in English so..), possible even the same discs, and they are coming out within days of each other so since we're this close to release now I think any delays would have already been communicated on one side or the other.

There are definitely going to be date changes for the following Funimation titles however, since the US dates are either after the current UK street date or haven't even been announced yet:

Mikagura School Suite
Ninja Slayer
Rainy Cocoa
Show by Rock

Yona of the Dawn Part 1 has been rated so that's getting released soon.

Thanks I've now sorted my budget for next month anime out . I was hoping I'll be able to set aside a few quid in case of early bird specials but there is few I want this month .

I couldn't wait for god knows how long so I decided to get the @Anime French release of Samurai Flamenco part 2 and I can confirm that it comes with English subtitles. It comes with the audio options of French, Japanese with French subtitles and Japanese with English subtitles.

Thanks for confirming this. May do it myseld, but then AL will lose my money (part of the problem with not having your product out there!) but I guess they're alrwady expecting this release to bomb :/

It's a shame that Samurai Flamenco sold that poorly. I'm part of the "waiting for part 2 to buy both parts together" group, which probably doesn't help much when the initial sales aren't there in the first place. I have to admit, I'd probably have picked up the first part if it was £5-6 cheaper but I'd imagine they'd be hesitant to lower the price if they're already making very few sales (presumably it'd be unlikely that the possible extra sales would make up the difference).

I wonder if they could do an early bird offer with a discount for part 2 and a discount for both parts bought together. It could be a useful way to get some of the cost covered up-front. They'd probably have to give a date but it could be approximate. I suppose it wouldn't be an option if there's still a possibility of cancelling the release and/or if it'd be difficult to even give an approximate date. The other issue might be finding the right time for the deal, it probably wouldn't be as effective in a busy month with lots of other offers/releases competing for people's money. I guess there are really a lot of things to think about, I sometimes forget how complicated this kind of business can be (I probably can't even imagine half of it).

Was actually thinking this morning that we were likely to see it pushed back. I was contemplating canceling it anyway as I still haven't seen season 1

Other delays:
Yona of the Dawn Part 1 - Delayed until July 25 (It was due in less than a week.)
Empire of Corpses - Delayed until August 8

You have plenty of time to watch it on CR, it is on 12 eps after all.

I have a pretty big backlog, and I don't do streaming, so will put it off until I buy the DVDs from DIscotek.

Do any of you guys know if there's a reason AL only have season 2 of Free?

I'm not complaining. I've seen S1 and i'm buying AL's release of Eternal Summer... just wondering if a different UK company had S1, or if something is blocking S1 physical release in UK?

Season 1's international rights are owned by Crunchyroll, whilst season 2's English-language rights are owned by Funimation, so Anime Limited has to sub-licence the rights off those two companies. Anime Limited has got a relationship with both companies, but their relationship with Crunchyroll seemingly came around after season 2's release was already announced.

So I guess if season 2 sells well, AL might pursue season 1...

Now I feel bad for doubting they'd make their original release date. On the plus side, I'm no longer obliged to buy the movie. I might still do anyway, will probably depend on the price (and my mood).

Ah that makes sense! Thanks :)
