UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

I was working out what I was wanting to purchase in July the other day and noticed that Amazon's the only place that has it down as the 4th of July now , Everywhere else has got it as 25th . I did find that anime-on-line is the cheapest place Arslan at the moment .

Arslan is indeed set for a July 25th release now (which it'll definitely hit - most of the contents are ready as of this week).

Wow Tokyo Ghoul Root A is sold out on AL's website. Not sure if its a temporary thing or that they really have sold out on their site.

Actually sold out of Collector's - standard is out soon thankfully! All that is available in retail now is all that's left...

Nice to hear Tokyo Ghoul continues to do well.

Root A's an interesting one. It's a complete mess, but I actually think it's the better series of the show. I'm excited to finally catch up on the manga at some point, having brought the Comixology bundle Viz were doing a couple of weeks back. (Though they still aren't up to Root A material apparently.)

Having just realized that Arslan comes out at the start of July, I'm doing some budgeting for what I'm willing to spend on anime/games/other frivolous nonsense over the next month, and this brings me to a question, what the hell is going on with Miss Hokusai? Do we have a firm release date for the collector's edition? (Amazon says 14th of November but I'm not convinced that's accurate). Just I'm tempted by the early bird offer on Gundam too which is another cost I didn't account for, then I think I've found the first Gundam release with the box included, which is another cost, so would be nice to know as I thought Miss Hokusai was due out by now.

Toss it in with Samurai Flamenco Part 2 under the "**** knows when they're coming" banner. I'm waiting on the Collectors Edition, but apparently the standard edition was for sale at the last MCM. Apparently July was mentioned re: The collectors edition but nothing concrete for a long time.

Communication, or lack therof with regards to both titles is VERY disappointing.

For Miss Hokusai - We had approval on the standards and the stock ready so yes, we took some to MCM to help stave off the fact the Collector's version keeps being held up in approvals. The thing is, we're the only company who will make an English release in a Collector's format like this and unlike many companies, Production I.G has a real passion for what they do. To them each film is precious and they want it to be 100% right, normally I'd push back on this but as someone who does believe in the same I'm working hard on it with them. So the reason you here "who knows when they're coming" is because until I clear approval, I could give you another date - but I could also be lying until it's ready for print (when it speeds up considerably).

For Samurai Flamenco - It sold terribly on Part 1, I will do Part 2 but when there's £2,100 of BBFC fees to pay too in order to release it - we have to time it carefully to get the show out safely. FYI Part 1 still hasn't sold enough to recoup it's BBFC and replication (which is not good after 7+ months) - so Part 2 is likely to fare worse as the maximum number likely to buy Part 2 is about the same as Part 1 (accounting for people who drop the show after Part 1 and people waiting to buy both at once. So apologies if you're frustrated by the delay, but we're doing the best we can there and it is an unfortunate case where I have to balance commercial reality vs completion. So we're not cancelling it part way, but yes there's a bit of delay courtesy of certification fees :).

So I too am disappointed by both (I wanted to have Hokusai out sooner, but perfection can't be rushed really and I respect that even if it pains us all - while I'm disappointed very few share my love of all things Takahiro Omori!)

AP

We've also had a lack of news on Free! ES. You have never even confirmed the new amazon RD.
So the only CEs that sell out are Tokyo Ghoul ones not even SAO, and SAO is better that thing called Root A (yes i havent bought it and I won't be)

Got it, definitely not November, but had hoped for July - pending getting this booklet cleared over the next week we may just get it out in July time too (hopefully in last stretch). Watch this space there, if not I'd hope August unless something insane happens but again, rather not confirm a fixed date til we vault past approvals. Sorry about that too, we're as eager to get it out as you are to get it!

Actually SAO Part 1 has sold out once already, you'll find working it's way into circulation now are Part 1's without the big box as I printed spare parts to allow the CE version to continue for a bit minus the initial bonus :). Ghoul due to nature of parts used was a bit more complex so didn't. Different strokes for different folks there too on Collector's Editions!

Re Free - again I will confirm a date when we clear approvals more than anything :). I hate wasting everyone's time otherwise and shuffling around again at this stage.

Damn OOP a week after release, thought it would go OOP fast like Season 1 but not this fast, better get Root A soon.

That's disappointing to hear Samurai Flamenco has sold badly, i did suspect that was the reason Part 2 hasn't been released yet. I wonder if it being sub only was one of the reasons it didn't sell well, it looks like a kind of show i'd usually get if it has a dub but since it doesn't i'll try it on Netflix first to see if i like it.

Really sad to hear Samurai Flamenco's UK reception hasn't been an improvement on the Japanese ;_;

Is there any hope for it to find its way to (non-Netflix) streaming in the hope of picking up that audience? It very much felt as though it's flown under the radar for a lot of people.

So glad I grabbed Root A. Haven't got round to watching it yet but look forward to it. Definitely a great set from AL.

More sets like this please!

Oof Tokyo Ghoul Root A sold out fast! While I missed out on the first CE and wasn't looking at buying Root A's because of it, I am very impressed that it has gone so fast. Well done guys, and nice to see so much support for the series. I'm not the biggest fan of the second half but I certainly like Tokyo Ghoul in general.

Really sad to hear about SF. Again not the biggest fan here but I do really like the first half and the ending so it's disappointing to hear that the sales have been so poor. Totally understanding why there is a wait for getting part 2 out now as well. Are you guys potentially looking at putting Samurai Flamenco on Crunchyroll to increase exposer (and potentially get some more sale)?

Also on the subject of Miss Hokusai I would rather you guys took your time with it rather than pushing it out if it isn't ready, same for any of your releases, because at the end of the day I look to Anime Limited for the quality of release. I'd much prefer you took your time and then we get an awesome release at the end - especially nice knowing how passionate Production I.G are with it too!

Fair enough, I'll fit it in my budget for this month and hope for the best, I guess the worst that could happen is I just use the same money next month instead.

I agree, more like this. I don't actually own it as I missed out of the first series set, but I really like how the Tokyo Ghoul sets look, especially the spines.

Gundam is big issue we have a 6 month wait for a box.
Meh, I'll wait 6 months for a nicer set. I do like a nice box.

don't forget the French subs! Haha.

Seriously though. Yep, would definitely not be a opposed to a bit of textured/foil stamped writing on any of the MSG artboxes. Although, if the style were to change now (at least for the main UC timeline stuff), it would be a bit weird and bug me lol.

Yeah I know the french subs are the real reason for the delay but they wont be benefiting me, but I love Zeta and blue amarays in a chipboard box ( as long as I get it in time) is boring for me. ( I plan to get it september and 0079 art box took 3 months so i should be fine)

I'm really happy that I purchased the standard edition of Miss Hokusai at Comic Con, because I absolutely adore that movie. I actually even have Mum wanting to watch it, but we've yet to find an evening where we're both free too. I'll definitely also be buying the Collector's Edition.

Disappointing to hear that Samurai Flamenco has performed so poorly; a friend of mine is a super huge fan of the series and would love Part 2 to be released. One thing I was curious about, was that with Part 2 already being released in France but without English subtitles and with Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam apparently having French subtitles as well, could producing a single disc-run for both territories be possible or viable (granted you have both the UK and French licenses of course). As I assume that would spread costs across more.
