Wrong on too many levels.

I get the feeling the only research you've done is looking at people rage about the filler arcs that followed the sasuke rescue arc. Finish off the series at the vol 6:1 and pick it back up at shippuden and it follows on well. the fact that there was such a demand = producing the anime ASAP which lead to overshooting the manga storyline and having to hit the fans with fuller fodder to keep fans happy.

Bleach on the other hand, has dragged out the Aizen final fight to the point i actually dropped the title until it picked up or found a bloody ending. the results? well if your reading the manga atm you'll know the storyline of a shinigami has completely spiralled.

So if i take on your logic....

Naruto was mediocre to bleach's beginning.... then as time has gone on, shippuden was introduced and has got much better, and bleach went downhill.
I'm JUST GOING ON METRICS, I'm not reading reviews of either series.
Give me numbers from another source if there's one that disagrees

Bleach had a lot of potential, but between the fillers and general dragging out of fights, became mediocre. I wouldn't say it's hated though. Actually it's probably the third most popular shonen show going, and shonen is one of the major genres of anime.

NGE is hated for the ending for the most part, while most would agree that outside of that, it is very good.

Escaflowne doesn't really stand-up in terms of animation and plot compared to more recent shows like Eureka Seven, but is still good.

As for the topic, I have to go with Excel Saga. Watched 5 minutes of it, and found it to be completely horrendous.

Noticed Wolf's Rain was getting a pasting in the counterpart thread to this one - with one comment on the show's ending being 'diabolically bad'.

BUT - for my money, with no reservations (aside from the torturous FOUR back-to-back recap episodes) it's one of the best shows I've ever seen. HIGHLY original among a morass of weaker fantasy and sci fi anime, with superb characters and an intriguing premise.

As for the ending - sorry, but I've taken to looking down my nose at people who don't get it. It's not hard to work out, and throws the whole series into a pretty sharp relief. It's a challenging conclusion, to be sure, and it leaves a mark.

Western movies like 2001: A Space Odyssey (which for my money is totally irredeemable crap) WISH they could pull off that sort of zingeroo at the end.

Initially I couldn't think of a series that I quite like that gets called crap enough but I found one eventually.

Gundam SEED Destiny

On a slight slant, a series which could of been good, was Divergence eve.

An almost passible space opera ruined by huge boobs and showing the series in the wrong order!

Clannad
Clannad ~After Story~
Kanon (2006)
Air

I'd have more but a lot of series I'm thinking of are more ignored or not known rather than disliked.

Judging by the comments I've seen elsewhere on the forum I'm tempted to say Martain Successor Nadesico.
No that's just maes.

Huh I thought those series where actually quite acclaimed (didn't Clannad come 2nd in the best of the decade thing on this forum?) and it was just me that disliked them.

I haven't seen (or rather, finished) ~After Story~ which I may do at some stage, but I dislike 'em a lot too.

Errmmm,
Where the heck doesn't have them sitting well up at the top of ratings.
Air is the only one I find sitting outside top 100.

They're liked more than say Studio Ghibli amonst non-casual fans.

The moe haters may be vocal, but they don't tend to actualy watch the shows or review them.

Ah, good man!

@ Reaper gi
While it's true I haven't seen or reviewed those shows, are you calling me a Moe hater!?? How very dare you! I don't even know what moe is, so how can I hate it?

Moe fans don't know what it is either.
You can like/hate something without knowing what it is called.

Why did you dislike the show:
If it due to the characters you definatly are a moe hater.
If it's just for the plot then you aren't.

Kanon is the archetype for moe characters. It's the basis by which most moe charcters are designed. i.e each character is principly a list of traits (hair colour, hair style, favorite food, personality type, vocal tick) and not much else.

My reason for selecting those is that in the circles that I respect or trust, they aren't regarded highly. Don't like it? Shut up and stop stating opinion as fact. This thread isn't about your misconceptions about what is and isn't regarded as high quality.

Hmm, what if its both? I certainly don't like the look of the characters, but then thats becuase they look like ridiculous, boring, un inspired anime stereotypes who all look the same. If thats what moe is than fair enough. Although its also true that I dislike the premise of the story, as I'm not big on the whole anime high school genre, not unless it has some particularly interesting element to it anyway. If I liked the story thats the main thing that would mater.

Dislike character for looking too anime and the sterotype elements, yup borderline moe hater.
It's like for 2d (i.e. anime style) characters.

Also Afterstory isn't just set in school, it's mostly after they graduate. Hence all the aclaim, as that's fairly unusual.
