The lack of foresight is shocking. Of course single Bluray sales are falling when you've already cancelled two mid-run. Once part 2 was released the sales of blu-ray 1 would have increased. Now they've just fulfilled their own prophecy. Manga, I am disappointed.

We can just breath a sigh of relief that this isn't as bad for the anime scene as the fire in 2005 which paralysed 90% of releases for months...

They are extremely expensive, I would advise installing a blu ray player into your PC or Laptop then downloading a program like DVDFab which allows you to switch the region of your player each time you play a disc without penalty. We setup a PC in our living room for this purpose. :)

I've lost hear in a number of licenses thanks to this. Worst is Your and my secret, originally released by ADV, canned when they went belly up. Saved by Tokyopop only to be canned by them going belly up on the second last volume -_- & I was waiting for the final volume of Yubisaki Milk Tea...
