Where Can You Get A Multi-Region BluRay Player?

The title pretty much says what I am after but to make it clear I want to be able to play Region A Blurays so can someone point me in the right direction to get a Multiregion player or a Region A player please & thank you
 
They are extremely expensive, I would advise installing a blu ray player into your PC or Laptop then downloading a program like DVDFab which allows you to switch the region of your player each time you play a disc without penalty.

We setup a PC in our living room for this purpose. :)

Not if you keep an eye out. There have been quite a few budget models available for around £60 from various supermarkets and on-line retailers. I have one which cost me £55 from ebuyer; it's now discontinued (as seems to keep happening with these players for some reason). The last one I saw was available from Tesco for £50 back in July, but their website tells me this too is now discontinued. Quite weird really...

It's worth pointing out that none of these budget players are ever *advertised* as multi-region by retailers; they all require a code to be typed in on the remote to unlock them. They best place to find out about them is dedicated Blu-ray or audio visual forums.
 
Search for the following brands on ebay and you should be able to find one for between £50-£100. Be careful though as some may be refurbished and may not have the correct firmware, so only bid on ones that explicitily state they are multi region.

I also use a PC viewer for non-UK disks. If I want to view them elsewhere I'll just rip them.

For the mainstay viewing though, I use PowerDVD10. Unlike 11 which is more locked down, its updated enough security and security types aren't an issue yet as it's still supported with AACS updates, but is really easy to reset in terms of region locks :)

Region locking is something I really wish would die in todays Global Digital Zone; it's so easy to move stuff between continents and countries, especially digitally online that they're slowly becoming more and more fundamentally flawed, with the only reason they're still in use being to try and maintain a thin vineer of control on media transportation.

When you can speak and see someone in virtual realtime (sub 2 seconds) via hardline connection someone on the other side of the world; then media control of this level is always going to be moving slowly towards fundamental failure, and I can't see that changing, all that'll happen is the methods and attempts at control will become more sophisticated.

I think US BD cases as a whole look weird...they're so thin compared to UK BD cases, and the top of the box...so flat (y'know, where UK BDs have the indent).

I'll definitely have to bookmark this thread for when I get some more money...
 
If you are looking for Blu-Ray A Players, check this store, their prices are pretty low and they ship worldwide. I've bought an LG BD630 from them and had no trouble at all.
