Just seen this on the Animego site, sadly You're Under Arrest will go out-of-print on January 31st,2012,sad news considering Urusei Yatsura goes out of print on the 30th of September, according to there site some volumes of UY are already gone,i wonder now if Sentai will get the rights to Your Under Arrest as they released season 2+3,its a real shame these two classic shows wont be on the market and seems like Animeigo are maybe finishing with anime are just going to concentrate on there live-action stuff, shame really they will always be my fave company even just for the reason that they released all of UY(except movie 2)the main reason i became a anime fan was because of watching UY,kinda feels like an end of a era, looking back its was a hell of a journey for them and there fans to finally complete UY,i,ve still got the vhs tapes lol,but they finally did it and for that i salute them. :D

Its also a shame the fans wont be able to finish Yawara the first boxset was amazing, there was so much passion and work put into there releases you just dont see these days.

With any luck Sentai will rescue the first series of YUA and put it out in two cheaper collections. Even at the $10 per disc Right Stuf are charging, not to mention import fees, that adds up to quite a lot for an old-ish series with poor video quality. I could do without having to store another 13 DVD cases as well.

The show definitely deserves to be rescued, both for its quality and for how prominent the OVAs were in Western fandom when they were first released.

Hear us, Sentai. This is what everybody is hoping for.

I thought I was hoping for Rose of Versailles >_>;

Just kidding (though I've never been interested in YUA and a rescue wouldn't change that). It's interesting watching the licensor shuffle lately in the US with everything swapping ownership, and there's a very good reason for Sentai to be interested this time.

You're Under Arrest can do with a relicense and reprint anyway seeing as some of the boxsets are ludicrously expensive and I hope that it does

hey how dose the series go is it in seasons or is it like D gray man all pack in to one
Animeigo released the series in four boxsets and also you can buy the volumes individually, the boxsets are already pretty hard to get and you would need to shop around(note-the ova is also included in the first volume as the tv series continues straight after the ova),and season 2 and season 3(Full Throttle)are now released as complete collections from Sentai, hope thats of some help.

I would FULLY support this. And buy the crap out of it.

Are you listening, UK anime distros? Huh? Huh?

(The old Patlabor OVAs would be nice too, if you possiby could...)

Its so damned expensive... I'd be willing to pay what AnimeEgo are asking for but they don't deliver outside the US :(
You'd think they'd at least have a separate company run by one of AnimEigo's owners who they would "sell" their products to, and who would then blamelessly export "second-hand" products (tax free of course, as second-hand items always are) to get round the terms of their licence agreements. That's what I'd do.

No need to do second hand, tax evasion is inadvisable.
Just having a seperate company for the shop is enough. Rightstuf and MVM are both exemplory examples of how one would work.

I'm sure they can hear, but given the limitations of the UK market I doubt that they can or will actually do anything.

Whups - nearly missed this.

Nope, I'm sensitive to that concern. But I do feel that the time is right for a line of older shows to be released, Anime Legends style. There's a lot of joy to be had from 'retro' anime. I can't help but think that, if the price was right, something like a set of 'complete collections' would shift. But then, I guess, we get bogged down in matters like licensing costs and all that jazz.

Shame.

There is always that old saying that old anime does not sell, yeah in a commercial point of view that is true and i dont think the U.K. market is big enough to warrent older shows even though the U.K. market is pretty healthy at the moment but thats due to the fact the bigger newer shows are where all the money is,sad fact is that it is all about the money,i,m the total opposite i dont really pay attention to modern anime so the more old classic shows the better,Your Under Arrest has a big fanbase but i dont think any on the U.K. companies would take the risk.

Sadly, I do believe you're right. There's a number of factors that I can see would conspire against such a thing happening. But I can dream, can't I?

I guess that - just maybe - a lot comes down to my old adage 'If you want it, ask for it.' I know that, certainly for myself, if some enterprising company were to put out keenly priced box sets of shows like 'You're Under Arrest', 'Space Adventure Cobra' and maybe even - GASP! 'Space Battleship Yamato', I'd be all over that like a rash. BUT, as you say, newer, shinier, sexier seems to be where the money's at.

Dammit all, I really wish anime was selling more than it currently is. :?
